You know you are from West Charlotte and old, if you know what and where and about the HI-FI, Star Lounge, Double Oaks Sundries, Oaklawn Tavern, the Varsity, The Atmosphere, The Matador, Chickenette , and still in business doing well at the same location, The original Chicken n Ribs.
You are probably from Charlotte if you know where The Palomino was and if you know WHAT it was and actually went there.
... if you remember when Billy Graham's family owned a large tract of land in what is now known as the Park Road area.
... if you can remember when you couldn't buy an alcoholic drink in a public restaurant.
... if you remember when Independence Blvd near Hawthorne was REALLY scary to drive on... You know, near the Bootery and Bloomery.

Not so fun was the draft induction site right behind the B&B for all those NC boys heading to Vietnam after conscription.
... Little Italy on Central Avenue and Le Chateau on Morehead were haute cuisine.
OR
... if you STILL eat at Open Kitchen
... if you weren't embarrassed to be seen ordering at Sonic on Wilkerson Blvd.
... if you ate at Brown Derby on West Morehead until it closed on 2007.
Guessing Delta Road was named after the so called Delta Air Base at the corner of WT Harris and Ablemarle Rd? Not a military installation but a former aircraft salvage facility. Also known as Grove Airport from 1942-1960.
Grove Airport/Delta Air Base
NE of Ablemarle Rd and East Harris Blvd. intersection. GA airport beginning in 1942. Originally had two grass runways but was reduced to one grass runway during the mid 1950s due to nearby residential development. The GA airport closed around 1960 when an aircraft salvage company took over the property. Private aircraft owned by the business continued to fly in and out until 2002, when more runway property was sold to housing developers, making the property unusable for airplane operations. Part of the grass runway and buildings are still there, as of 2016. Business operations at the property ceased in 2018, sold again this year and is slated to be redeveloped into apartment complexes, as of September, 2019.
That sounds more like YOUR neighborhood my little man......scram
