I spent all my summers at Windyrush - swimming on the swim team, playing in the pool, sunbathing - actually one of my relatives ran the clubhouse for years - used to eat so many candy bars, sodas, hamburgers, onion rings etc junk food heaven!!!
We used to play in the clubhouse and watch all the ABC soap operas during the summers there.
Actually, kids in OP were supposed to go to South Meck, but in 1986, they changed the zoning and shipped us to MPHS. I guess it has been that way ever since - don't know.
Oh, and speaking of Mr. Rea, his cows would always get loose and end up in our backyard! lol

.....
Where Sears was uptown?
Yes. Except it was called downtown in those days. Yes I remember that Sears quite well including the restaurant that was connected to it. If Sears had never moved to Eastland and closed this store as a result, it would now be considered one of the hallmarks of a downtown CLT visit.
IMO, one of the greatest bastardizations of Charlotte was the creation of the moniker of "The Uptown" in reference to downtown Charlotte.

My first only mosh pit was at Pterydactyl Club.
