They got rid of the Monorail at Carowinds?
If so , pitiful. That would be good to travel around town on. Too bad they don't see it that way.
It was boring lol well I thought it was when I was as a kid... hehe
Carowinds was alot smaller then too no water park or Hurler
or Nickelodeon land and Dora
I wonder if someone now owns the old monorail train or are they preserved
in a museum or least it should or put back to running adding modern technology like GPS. With a monorail no driver is needed with GPS.
Just a copilot for emergency situations

That monorail was built in the early 1970s by a company called Universal Mobility which no longer exists. Over the years, I have heard various stories about what happened to it, but I would say it is no longer in Charlotte. The Observer originally reported that it had been sold to a town in Mexico, but there is no evidence they ever put it up. The station at Carowinds was torn down.
[quote=heartsN Charlotte;15053093]Ok.... I have to ask, what this place was and, why your parents made you turn away?
it was a drive in movie that showed porn
Charlotte used to have 6-7 Drive-In theaters. When they were in their last days in the late 70s, most, including all the ones in Charlotte I believe, had gone to showing hard core porno. These screens could be seen from the highway though they did try to shield them a bit with bright lights so kids were always told to look the other way.
Remember when traffic use to get backed up for miles on Independence and it was only
2 lanes with a ton more stoplights.
Or Trying to get to Pterodactyl or one of Charlotte longest running Club Scorpios from 4 lane total
on 85.
The exit was a very sharp clover leaf curve. During the widening the pavement was so tore up
it was scary.
how about the breakfast/lunch counter at Eckerds [ remember all the locations of Eckerd's?]
at Southpark Mall? the ckick-fil-a that used to be there.
oh, was it the Epicurean on East Blvd. , the white house? was across the street , open 24 hours.
what a party that was. Wad's on East was another great place.
When 300 East was called The Whitehorse, and before that when it was located where the East Blvd Bar & Grill is now. While we are on this street, Josh's restaurant.
~The old jalopies cars and sports cars that you can "pretend" to drive at Carowinds.
~The intersection of Pecan and Independence where the "skimpy" lingerie were on display... as a child, I never understood why there were so many car accidents there!
~To goto Presb-main, you went down Independence and took a right at Hawthorne where the Krispy Kreme was on the corner!
~When the only thing in Cornelius (at Lake Norman) was the Ham & Eggs, Hardees, the ABC store and of course, Cashions!
~On the other side of Lake Norman (Lincoln county side in Denver area...when Westport area was called Denver), the only thing there was Red & White grocery and a Triangle Mini-Mart (saw Ric Flair when I was the 6th grade and to me, his arms were HUGE!)
~When Providence Rd @ I-485 was 'the boonies.'
~When Hwy 51 was a two lane road (between Pineville and Matthews).
Wow. Cannot belive they showed porn at a drive in. gross. I saw Ric Flair last night having sushi. His arms (and head) are still huge!
