the occupy charlotte rally gives me alot of hope about the future of charlotte, the amount of folks showing up for this is very small compared to other cities and thats why i have hope, maybe charlotte isnt turning radical left like i had feared, or it could be that all the rallies around the country are very small and the media is hyping them up in the name of propaganda to levitate their leftist agenda. Thank God that charlotte is still such a capitalist city, the small numbers at the charlotte events scream that karl marx is not welcomed here by the majority of charlotteans, like me, IM ONE OF THE 53% THAT ACCUALLY PAYS TAXES

Don't take this the wrong way but I think most southern states are having smaller gatherings compared to northern cities and out west.

I think Charlotte leans left but not hard to the left.

Radical left? I don't see how this movement is "hard" left at all. Holding people accountable, the right to protest peacefully, sensible government not ruled by special interests, and many of the things core to the Occupy movement are held by the Right. Don't fall for what your right leaning media is telling you what to think about the movement.

The taxes thing is a classic one liner used to propagate an agenda... 47% of people don't earn enough to pay FEDERAL taxes. They most certainly pay the same killer taxes we all do (state, sales, gas, etc etc). Should poor people not be allowed to vote?

listen i am against cronie capitalism and statism thats where our government picks and chooses which corporations or company thrives, true capitalism is if you go bankrupt bye bye another company will fill your void, im all for that, but this class warfare crap im not, theese kids are too young to understand that socialism is a failed premis in which socialism does lead to comunism which has killed milliions around the world. socialism and comunism is intreched in theese protest thats a fact, theese kids are so misguided and indorinated from our puplic schools, i cant really fault them , heck most of us were liberal when we were young then too. but when you have organizations like the american comunist party and the national socialist nazi party endorsing the occupy protest that should raise and eyebrow or two, what if the kkk endorsed the tea party in which many liberals would have a hay day w/ it and that would be the top news for weeks, so why is no one crying foul when the national socialist nazi party endorces the occupy protest?

fyi... this is not a measure of anything significant.

Totally agree, but we are talking about Charlotte/NC so I made an observation.

Looks like they are going to put forth an ordinance to limit the occupy Charlotte people

Thoughts?

My question is this:

I understand having a 1st Amendment right, but does it mean you can go anywhere on public property you want at any time and say anything you want?

Pretty much; and pretty much anything short of slander.

If they do (and I suspect each City has that right btw)
the fault will be with what passes for organizers of these events:
that they have no second chapter.

The reception to and appreciation for those willing to "take a stand" has a half life.

I didn't even know the Charlotte thing was still going on. As soon as the mod said "keep it Charlotte" the thread pretty much died. LOL...

AS long as you aren't breaking noise laws you should be able to go on any public property and say anything you want. Not sure about cursing and vulgar language or slander...

this doesn't mean your company can't fire you or suspend you. I only bring this up because every time someone gets fired for saying something stupid people scream free speech.
