I don't know where you are located, but it is a crying shame on how some of our public schools systems have been "dumbed down" over the last 25 or so years.

Dawn, I taught high school for 1 year and I applaud all the hard work and thankless hours that go into performing your job. So, anytime there is a teachers workday or day off to take a breather, YOU ABSOLUTELY DESERVE IT! And who gives a damn if they call it Washington or Presidents day?

And when I worked for the federal government (very recently), it was called Presidents Day (technically George Washington's birthday). And any president is worth teaching about...GW Bush, Barack Obama, etc...not just our first president and slave owner George Washington.

I agree that many of our PSs are not what they used to be, but not because they call a holiday something other than the "official" name.

The history of the day remains the same.

Thank you.

I completely agree.

Indeed. I've already posted the true history.
"Millions of Americans will be honoring the legacy of America’s presidents on Monday—even though a national Presidents Day holiday is pure fiction."

In Meck it was observed as a holiday and not workday.

If you can demonstrate an official holiday, called Presidents Day, that would apply to Union county, then I will correct my post.

Otherwise, the correct name of the Holiday is Washington's Birthday and it celebrates George Washington. It's an worthy holiday, but not one, IMO, that deserves that government, banksters and let alone the schools, should take off at the publics expense.
You said there was no such thing. That was a pretty absolute statement and you did not qualify it to be Union County. This forum does not pigeon hole absolute statements to the subject line. If it did your post about car sales would be off topic because the link you posted isn't only for Union County.

My point was both of you are right. There is such a thing as Presidents' day in some places but that's not what the Federal designation is.
