A city without an identity is one of the most desirable cities in the country to live in?

Possible Charlotte identity slogans:

Charlotte:
- The Carrowinds City.

- Where you run out of gas on the way to Atlanta.

- The sixth Borough.

- Where we prefer to dine in.

- Trees, we got'em.

- Uptown, Downtown, Countdown.

- Where a single street needs more than just one name, and needs to go in all compass directions.

- All dirt roads lead to Charlotte.

- Rock Hill's Ball Cap.

- World Class Cornbread.

- C'mon down, weeeeeeeeeee're deal'n.

Has the OP ever heard of San Francisco? Why would you even think of such a suggestion? "Charlotte, the City with no identity, come make your own"!

Charlotte didn't attract the growth it has seen with a fancy marketing campaign. Charlotte saw its growth because it is a good place to live.

Queens, gays, banking, etc. are not Charlotte's identity. We have it all even though we lack in certain areas. Charlotte is a place where you can, for the most part, come and be who you are, or want to be, and people won't care. You can be YOU in Charlotte. Charlotte is a little bit south and a little bit north. We're a little bit Country and a little bit Rock n Roll. To put an identity on Charlotte is to strangle Charlotte's true identity.

Charlotte is what Charlotte is. No branding needed.
That's pretty good! "Come to Charlotte, where you can be YOU!"

I've heard Charlotte referred to as "The City of Churches"...why not go with that? There do seem to be many Churches in the City and surrounding areas - with many people who are (or at least claim to be) active in them.

San Francisco is The City by the Bay. Your point?

Charlotte should go with the "family oriented city" because it is the most family like kid friendly city I've lived in or been to.

We don't need an identity if we have a good reputation. No need to overthink it. And no need to give local government any reason to spend more money on some ad campaign.

Kinda have to disagree with that; LA, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Miami, Austin, Orlando, etc. all have identities that are at least somewhat well-known.

That said, identities are overrated.
