An article was published in today's (Jan. 3) edition of the Sun-Times, which reported that West Garfield Park had the highest murder rate in all of Chicago's 77 community areas last year. Its murder rate was almost 7 times the city as a whole, with 218 per 100,000 residents.

This article also stated that over half of the recorded murders in Chicago in 2021 were concentrated in just 7 of the city's 25 police districts. In fact, these 7 districts had a murder rate 25 times the citywide rate.

Meanwhile, here's how the city treats crime victims who've had enough and speak out against The Machine:

Days after $1 million smash-and-grab, Lightfoot walked out of meeting with “idiot” luxury car dealer — then a city inspector showed up with a ticket book

It's such a cliché but of course the mayor just couldn't help but lapse into it. "Anonymous complaint" me arse.

YIKES! I just saw an article that a couple was carjacked in the parking lot of the Hawthorne Mall, in Vernon Hills, this past weekend?

I was there with my kids, on New Years Day.

And I am going on a date there tonight.

Ohhhhh, I will keep you apprised if I encounter any nonsense!

Stay safe, healthy, and happy!!

This legislative Galaxy Brain has a sure-fire fix for the present crime problem:

Outraged about alleged murderers being on electronic monitoring, politician proposes a new law that would only allow them out of jail WITHOUT electronic monitoring

I saw you express support for Lightfoot in another thread. How do you feel about the job she's doing in regards to crime? I get the feeling she can count on your vote. lol

What is going on, on the Red Line State/Grand CTA stops in River North?

2 recent incidents, a murder and a beating:

https://abc7chicago.com/chicago-shoo...tate/11610943/

https://wgntv.com/news/chicagocrime/...-cta-red-line/

River North used to be the glitzy part of town where you never had to worry about this type of stuff. That has all changed the last 2 years.

A group of 5-6 were involved in the beating, and a teen was the victim shot. This is sad and depressing.

To be fair, River North was pretty rough until the early 90s. Prostitutes and drug dealers were lined up all over Hubbard back in the day.

It's been a relatively calm 30 years with the occasional hoodrat violence. But yeah, the 2020s have been ugly there.

Good morning. Hoping all are doing well...

I happened to see a video clip of a man that was stabbed last night (rather critically, mind you!), while trying to thwart a would-be thief at Walgreens in River North, last night.

Did anyone else hear of this?
