Sorry but I see no heaven on this earth. The only glimpses we get are a few brief happy moments like what June said but heaven IS NOT NOW. I'm looking forward to the place that is described in the Bible, where we will all be perfect and all the evil of this world has passed away and nothing but peace and harmony exists. Please don't try to tell me this is it. It's a nice thought, but it ain't true.
Ilene is right: you won't find heaven on this earth. What you can find is to experience some of God's kingdom here: joy, peace, love, etc. Heaven is an actual place, whereas the kingdom of God is just that: a kingdom, which we are a part of. Yes, God's kingdom is found in heaven, but a portion of it is also found here on earth, in each believer...
I'm not being negative here, but we can choose to live in a bubble of non-reality or choose to face reality, and the reality is this world is chock full of sin and evil. I would never associate this world to God in any way saying it was "heaven"...come on people, wake up!! This is the devil's playground and yes we can experience God "within" but without there's just darkness until the Lord returns. We have to look outside of our own situations and see what is really going on. Just because we're not affected by murder, rape, child pornography, child abuse, animal abuse, starvation, homelessness, or any of the other evils and hardships doesn't mean it's not real and happening. We are spoiled in the US and it's easy to sit back in your lazy boy and say "life is good", or "this must be heaven". Enjoy it because everyone's reality is going to change in the very near future because we've got some serious enemies hot after us and they WILL get us again....remember 9/11?

Agreed....to go through life with such a fatalistic and dark attitude...living only on a hope of some purely speculative afterlife while missing the true happiness and joy that can be found in this life....is very sad indeed.
Now that's what I'm talking about....yes, it does. I think we're all experiencing more hell than heaven on this earth right now.
Depends how you look at it.
if you view it as a 'hell', then yes, everything starts to be bitter and joy-less.
but if you instead look at everything with a positive attitude and look at challenges as a way of life, and what essentially makes us human, you may start to move away from your 'hell on earth' attitude about life.
life is full of amazing and wondrous moments and experiences. it's filled with little things that should make you light up inside and feel truly happy.
Life is what you make of it!
You people just don't see my point. I'm not complaining or saying my life is bad or unsatisfactory....quite the opposite actually. I'm blessed beyond belief and that's just my point. You're all so comfortable in your "it depends on how you view it" theories and looking through rose-colored glasses that you can't see the horrors that exist in this world. Do you ever think of what our service men and women go through everyday? How hard life is for them? What about that secret horror that your neighborhood child is having to go through completely alone? And the starving children all over the world when we have every imaginable food at our fingertips? Please, get real and wake up. The heaven that is promised to all of us is a reality and what I think is sad is that you people have no hope beyond this life.

If you're including ME as among "you people", I have hope beyond this life, fyi.
Bottom line is that sometimes life is crappy - and for some more than others, obviously.
Religion topics always seem to get heated, or headed that way (especially Christianity).
