Miss_Shawn, you know me long enough to know I am an equal opportunity critic
Really, ok then can you answer me this?

How are you being equal when this type of thing has been around not only in the black community, but also other communities as well.

How is it equal that you only name the black community, and totally over look the others? Is that equal?

You say you know about other preachers who are not black, so why is it that you only point out the black community?

That doesn't sound equal to me........................... That sounds one sided and skewed to me.

Default no more schisms

There is no "black church" or "white church" before the Lord Jesus. These are man made creations. There is one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church created by Jesus for the salvation of all people.

It seems to me, the point of the thread has been a little misunderstood. Maybe the whole point was to shed some light on how the "claim it, believe it" doctrine affects the black church in particular. To say how the doctrine affects all churches that teach it, would probably have yielded different points and been a completely different topic all together.

11 AM Sunday morning, as they say, remains the MOST divided time in America.

I agree....I understood the point from the beginning and was wondering what all the fuss was about. Insane was just pointing out a particular doctrine that has affected the black community...I didn't see it as racist or otherwise. I do however think that this doctrine has affected minorities more than it has the white community but it is an equal opportunity doctrine...just look at Joyce Meyer, Joel Olsteen, Jesse Duplantis, etc....they all teach the same crap and millions are duped every day by them.

"Name it and claim it"
"Blab it and grab it"

Just call it a doctrine of lies in which G-d is made out to be their go-fer.

I come from the Caribbean where thngs are a little different. In the U.S, EVERYTHING is black OR white so everyone is on edge the minute a color or race is mentioned even if making a simple point as I tried to make. Both sides CAN be VERY guilty of this.

I'm surprised no one jumped all over the idea that this thread was trying to point out that white folks (Hagin, Copeland, etc) once again mirred black folks in nonsense and thus, some secret conspiracy to further destroy black people. While that was NOT the point of this thread, I am surprised that bit of speculation was not mentioned.

To show how out of control this bit of nonsense went with some of us, one of my peers back in the day, stood up in church and told a girl (he liked) that he claimed here in the name of Jesus. LOL...He was dead serious. Today she is married to someone else (for the past 20+) years and he is (sadly) a crazy person wandering the streets of St. Thomas.

The assembly I felt most blessed and encouraged in while I lived in the US was a mostly black church. I loved it! The people were so joyful and simple! (And most of them were quite poor, I might add..)

Sometimes, I think that if America is in any way "blessed," it is probably because of black believers. Blacks have been so poorly treated in America, I wouldn't be surprised if God has "blessed" America specifically for them!

Peace,
brian
