Once again.....let's touch on the principles revealed by the Word.....
Adultery is not just committed by the genders, our soul is as a female meant to be faithful and impregnated by the Spirit of G-d, and when we join ourselves to that which is not like Him it is the same as adultery, and the seeds we received from that which we have joined ourselves to, those seeds also reproduce.
You all want to harp on the hospitality thing, but you fall short of digging deeper. It's a LESSER offense than the reality behind it, remembering that EVERYTHING has a spiritual ROOT, not just a fruit you can readily spot. We have to go to Acts 17 to see the spiritual ROOT....
Now what you need to see here is that the men of Mars Hill were only interested in telling or hearing some new thing, they spent their time in NOTHING ELSE. They were not interested in being both a hearer and a doer (of the Word), they only wanted it to tickle their ears (APPEAL TO THE FLESH/Sodom, never going beyond the outside of the ear to penetrate down into the heart), appeal to their INTELLECTUAL (mind/Gomorrah) curiosity. Notice also that is says these men, were WHOLLY GIVEN OVER TO IDOLATRY.
G-d FORBID it should be something with the LIFE of the Spirit in it by which they would be forever changed from the INSIDE OUT, that would be ENGRAFTED into their heart/virgin soul, ie. BE ONE WITH IN A FRUITFUL UNION capable of reproducing the nature of the pattern Son: no, they would prefer it be a UNION INCAPABLE OF PRODUCING NEW LIFE. Flesh begets flesh and Spirit begets Spirit'; it's the law of the seed which cannot be broken = all seeds reproduce after their own kind.
An unfruitful union is exactly what happens when people only like to hear the sermonettes in the churches or elsewhere, but refuse to let the Word IMPREGNATE their heart/soul with the SEED of the Word, which is His Spirit. He said we (flesh) must decrease, so that He (Spirit) can increase.
We see the truth of this with Lot and his family who were spared, because they not only took in (TO THEIR ABODE/HEART) the angels (means MESSAGES or messengers), they believed the Word (faith) given to them, and ACTED (works) upon it. And so we see that faith without works is DEAD, as is works without faith. Be ye a doer of the Word, not just a hearer only.
See, there are virgins that are virgins because they've kept themselves clean with each new revelation being unfolded and embraced wholeheartedly with repentance, and there are virgins that are virgins because they refused to allow themselves to be touched by the Spirit of the Word.
Remember the fig tree that doesn't produce fruit is CURSED and nigh unto BURNING, which is what Sodom means. Sodom and Gomorrah, our flesh and our mind, become a giant BURNT OFFERING, salted with fire, when we refuse to submit to the authority of the Spirit of G-d and His Word.
What you clearly don't comprehend is the Word is SPIRIT, written to our spirit, with the intent and pure motive of PRODUCING A SON AND HEIR. Who shall declare (means to show openly as opposed to VEILED) His generation? Father wants GRANDCHILDREN, get it?
And since He will not give His glory unto another IMAGE, any corrupt doctrine that falls short of the PERFECT IMAGE of the PATTERN SON which was MADE FROM THE WORD, mars that image, and like the pot that it is, must be broken and thrown on the scrap heap. As for the carnal mind, you still have not figured out that it is your enemy; the VERY BEST it can ever be is a servant to His Spirit, and left to it's unbridled reign, is what corrupts the Word that is Spirit. Which is why we are told to bring EVERY THOUGHT into captivity to the mind of Christ.
Think about it. Satan corrupted the Word that was spoken, Eve, a type of the virgin soul received it and accepted it and took it into herself and what happened? It brought death to the hearer instead of life. The same thing happens when you rely on your carnal mind to teach you the things that are IN AND OF the Spirit. IT HAS NEVER BEEN THERE SO HOW CAN IT TEACH YOU FROM A PLACE IT'S NEVER BEEN?
So point being, whether or not the physical sin is committed or not, if the spiritual precept is committed by the flesh of ANYONE, which includes their HEART, the price is the same. Which is why I have been steadfastly saying, that the heart of the priesthood (those that have received the baptism in His Spirit which IS the anointing required to serve as a priest) must ALSO be cleansed of the ROOT, and not just those busying themselves with the works of the FRUIT that is visible to everyone.
The principle being, that the body (those in the outer court=everyone NOT baptized into His Spirit) can only do what it "sees" (in the spirit, the soul is a spirit, too) it's head (those in inner court priesthood, baptized in His Spirit, set apart by outward anointing for service) do. The priesthood, by baptism of the Spirit, was baptized into being one with the Head, who is SPIRIT.
Which is why, hate and murder, for instance, are the same sin. One is the root (hate in the heart of priesthood), the other is the fruit (openly manifested by those in the outer court). So when they SEE you hate your brother IN YOUR HEART, they go out and murder theirs.
See, He's not only interested in the outside of the cup (all of mankind's VISIBLE works) being cleaned up, He's making sure the inside of the cup (all of the priesthood's hearts) be cleansed as well. So that in the day of judgment which is coming swiftly, NONE WILL HAVE AN EXCUSE, because the WHOLE BODY, gets cast into the fire. Peace
And let's not forget the sin of the Nicolatians, that He hates.
Here's what the early church fathers had to say about them.
Irenaeus writes, "They lead lives of unrestrained indulgence, and teach it is a matter of indifference to practice adultery, and to eat things sacrificed to idols."
Ignatius brands them as "lovers of pleasure, and given to slanderous speeches, adding that they affirm that unlawful unions are a good thing, and place the highest happiness in pleasure."
Tertullian (with regard to marriage) says, "The Nicolaitans, in their maintenance of lust and luxury, destroy the happiness of sanctity."
How you might ask does this tie in? Simple. Compromise and altering the Word to fit pet doctrines to give occasion to the lusts of the flesh (and He defines lust as desiring ANYTHING apart from His perfect will for the individual), is the cornerstone of the Nicolaitans, and like Balaam, they were self-deceived and self-deluded.
They glossed over what was obviously against the Spirit, and preferred the flesh, which is the root of respect of persons, ie. preferring the flesh (any flesh) to the Spirit, which goes all the way back into the garden, as Eve preferred what she could see, and feel, to what she couldn't. I think it's more than likely they too misinterpreted Paul's passage of 1Cor. 6:12 (All things are lawful but not all things are expedient), since there is nothing new under the sun, and so we are seeing in our day and age this recent "revival" it seems, of intentional and willful misunderstanding of Paul's teachings, backlash.
There is considerable probability that the Nicolaitans probably derived their name from one Nicolas, one of the deacons appointed in Acts 6. Here's the thing about Nicolas. He was a Jewish proselyte, which means he was a recent convert to Judaism, who immediately switched religions again, because let's not forget that they were first called Christians at Antioch. He also came from Antioch, and returned to Antioch as bishop, a city that was one of the worst for pagan worship, that included temple prostitutes as part of famous temples there.
And like the 7 churches in Revelation who were in what is now modern day Turkey, it vanished as a Christian city, and was known for it's "Delphic morals" of the day, which was not a good thing, relating it the pagan sexual temple practices of anything goes. In short, it was a bastion for compromising the Word of G-d. When we allow a toe hold, Satan takes a mile. Go and sin no more lest a worse thing come upon you, is not written for nothing.
Now here is how you tie all this in together. The pagans allowed homosexual unions obviously, it was part of their idolatrous worship. But there were some laws attached to it. And that was if a man in a inferior social position dominated the act on a superior one, the death penalty was activated. In other words, it wasn't just for unbridled lusts, it was used to delegate societal status, a weak form of slavery, a position of exaltation and degrading control over a "lesser".
Which is why the sin is ALSO "fleshed out" in including it as the exaltation of the clergy above the laity, and how it applies to what I already stated about the sins in the heart of the priesthood being more grievous because they are under condemnation for this same sin whether an physical act has taken place or not, as like the UNREPENTANT Pharisees before them (of which Paul is, CLEARLY NOT ONE), they have abused their position and created a chasm in the body by elevating themselves as the head by placing a YOKE in between the head and the body.
And not only elevating themselves as the head, but worse still committing the sins of David as well, in that they have desired a soul (female) not their own, and murdered her TRUE HUSBAND (Christ SEED) whenever possible to get her. Another man has been in the marriage bed intended only for Christ and His bride, another man has demanded and taken her affections "illegally", another man has stood between her and her beloved, obscuring His image.
There is only one GREATER (G-d/Spirit), and one LESSER (man/flesh). Which brings us to the simplest foundational truth of how we are to test the spirits. On the day of Pentecost the Spirit was heard to speak of the marvelous works of G-d among men. Principle: the spirit ALWAYS exalts the one that sent it. Peace

It's called placing oneself in the center of the Garden of Eden and usurping God's authority to speak as He wills. And His message changes from generation to generation. Oh, that's right, you don't desire to actually learn the cultural context of Scripture, preferring to provide creative stories to make it all blend. Exactly the opposite of what Scripture itself teaches us.
I'm far more "ignorant" than you about Scripture because I DO study it in a scholarly fashion. It's folks who don't that are always bragging about their "special" knowledge.
