You're not understanding the spirit of Christ here because you are heaven and hell minded(double minded) and overly sin conscious. What Jesus Christ is saying here is stop at nothing to enter kingdom living, because all your biases and prejudices( your limbs) separate you from your source of true living. Again Jesus is not talking about the heaven and hell you fundies subscribe too. Abraham cut everything off that contradicted the seemingly impossible thing he had believed he was to become. Every time is race belief told him he was past it and over the hill to have a son, he cut that race belief out.

I think that some have posed the opposite question, of what if we are wrong, and it IS a sin. Maybe that hasn't been answered either.
