Nor, according to the Bible story, was Lazarus either in heaven or hell. But, according to Mike and others, he SHOULD have been in one place or the other. No, he was 'asleep in death' awaiting the command from Jesus to "arise and come forth."

How does this ^^^ correspond with your belief in heaven and hell, Mike? It kind of knocks it on the head, doesn't it?

Nobody was in heaven until what we Catholics call the Harrowing of Hell; when Christ after his death on the cross descended into the realm of the dead and set the captives free. He opened the gates of Heaven and ushered in His elect.

Hades is the grave, not the fictitious hellhole of Christianism, which was enhanced by greek philosophers or their contributions.

Everyone chooses their path in life. If they chose evil and rebellion against God, then what they sow, that shall they also reap. My first relationship is with God. That faith and love is greater than my love for my wife and children. If they reject God, then they have rejected my God, whom I love, respect, and revere above all other gods.

Do you see the bolded as problematic? Why?

Why would you think God wants you to love Him who you cannot see more than those you love and can see???? Love has no favorites and neither does God who IS agape love. Love is not a zero-sum phenomenon and it is not diminished by adding to it. It is expanded.

It became problematic, when it went from being a grave (pit) to that of an underworld of pain and suffering, along with that of a literal lake of fire, whereas both are referred to as HELL from various false beliefs within Christianism.

How/why do you see that as problematic?

It's not a problem for me. I do not believe in the false doctrines of a netherworld, other than the grave.

Just now seeing your edit...

So I take it your issue is with Scripture using the blanket term "hell" to describe these different aspects of the afterlife/place of the dead?
