So how do we get more people to know about what is going on in Charlotte?
I think once you start actually going to some of these spots, you'll find that there's more people that know what's going on here than you thought.

This reply is for ajjam and others wanting to know what Charlotte offers.

This is so true. I am also inside the circle of Christian hip-hop in the area, and this too is also quite extensive. Once you go these events and start networking you'll see Charlotte has several niche communities of artists, musicians of all types, hip-hop and rock junkies, MMA (yep, that's right), boxing, etc.

Charlotte is a white collar supported town with a very significant blue collar workforce. So much of what is advertised are events that are considered "high culture" by white collar, blue collar workers are just working to make ends. In order to get the word out more the demand has to increase. However, I have heard a significant amount of Charlotte entrprenuers are using twitter to their advantage.

I think you are on to something, adavi! A lot of people really do not know what Charlotte has to offer b/c a lot of those events that you've mentioned are not as heavily promoted like it is in other cities. It's not as if Charlotte doesn't these events, but it is of a lesser quantity. I've said this before, Charlotte is more of a networking city where you may have to make more contacts in order to get in on what's happening in the QC! It may sound a bit "cliquish" but it is what it is! Sorry for reopening this thread, please forgive me C-D folks!

^I actually think it's like that in a lot of other cities also. Everyone knows what the big events are, but there are plenty of quality events that tend to fly under the radar because they are "niche" events, so you have to do your research or be in the appropriate circles to know what they are.

With all the things to do, what is the attendance like at these spots.. I's there a vibrant energie in Charlottes nightlife scene.. Is it the type of nightlife scene where people would leave other major cities to come party In Charlotte..?? Vibrancy and energy levels are important it's dreadful to go to a bunch of places and it's dull and boring..

Care to share your defining characteristics of what makes a city "MAJOR"?

hooligan, my guess is that the OP has heard that Atlanta is now a major market in the broadcasting industry & has mistakenly decided that this has something to do with Atlanta's importance. All it means is the size of the metro assigned to a city is in the top 10. It's pointless to explain it further than that. Top 100 Television Markets - Station Index

Population is the only thing that determines whether a city is MAJOR or not. The United States government considers the top 20 metropolitan areas to be major cities.

Just so everyone knows I went out and about in Charlotte yesterday for the 4th and I had a great time. Uptown was packed and the police presence was evident on EVERY CORNER.....that is how you handle big crowds....Charlotte is a very progressive city. I had a good time looking forward to more events in the city.

Why in the world would ANYONE compare the two is mind-boggling...But, Charlotte is not a "Non-destination" city, it's the 18th largest city in America, and is continuing to grow. So, I guess for some reason, you think bashing Charlotte is helping separate the two?

Glad you had a good time over the holiday weekend. You might have to dig a little harder, but there is plenty to do in Charlotte if you look.
