Not just you, but dang you Pittsburgh homers have excuses. Even Cleveland and Detroit have established recent Hispanic and other immigrant enclaves. Pittsburgh? Not so much...

Milwaukee may get some Chicago spillover, but regardless of what some on c-d think, Mke and chitown are economically independent. Immigrants who move to Milwaukee work in Milwaukee, are drawn here because they have family there, not necessarily due to any proximity to Chicago.

So there you have it: Pittsburgh is the weakest of all the Rust Belt metros. It might as well give up, 'cuz nobody wants to move there.

I heard somewhere that all the young, smart and ambitious leave Pittsburgh too. They all move to Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, Cleveland, and other progressive cities. Pittsburgh is so backwards.

By the way, I'm still buying futures in Pittsburgh, so if any of you want to sell them, just lemme know.

If you had carpentry skills you could buy houses to fix up.

Or buy view lots that are buildable with current codes.

Why not...we Pittsburghers are constantly defending our city against Old-Outdated Misrepresented Stereotypes that a portrait about us here in C-D....by people who have never step foot here...

I Hate Enclaves much rather have it like the Squirrel Hill section of the Burgh everyone living amongst everyone....Which seems to be the way Pittsburgh will continue to do as it grows....

Chicago like NY is the launching pad for immigrants....They arrive in these big cities and disburse from outward to other near by city...and they are just now beginning to Arrive upon Pittsburgh...Trust me Pittsburgh is much more diverse now than it was in the 80's and 90's....Pittsburgh would probably be overrun with immigrants if it was for the 80's exodus and bad perception that proceeded it....Seeing as Pittsburgh is the direct center between NYC and Chicago.

Your nose is out of joint, obviously. I don't know that much about Pittsburgh - I know it has a beautiful skyline, but Milwaukee has a beautiful waterfront. Milwaukee is gaining population, and the metro contains 3 of the 100 highest income counties in the country (according to the U.S. Census Bureau). I will speak about things I know here, not things I want to believe, and I'm not bashing Pittsburgh, because I've never been there. I would expect that those who haven't been to Milwaukee wouldn't bash it either. You can't know what you're talking about if you haven't been there.

My son-in-law is a physician in Milwaukee, and many of his colleagues are immigrants from India. Also, there are a lot of engineers in the Milwaukee area who have immigrated from India (I know this is the case in all large cities). Milwaukee is home to the 3rd largest Serbian population in the country, and those I know work in the field of finance.

My brother, who lives in the Chicago metro, but closer to Milwaukee than Chicago, used to work for Westinghouse. He used to travel around the country for them, giving seminars in the nuclear field. He was asked to transfer to Pittsburgh, but instead chose to stay where he was, and he started up his own business. Nothing against Pittsburgh, he just liked it here. He also felt he had the best of both worlds, living between Milwaukee and Chicago, and having both cities in which to conduct his business.

You've bashed Milwaukee without knowing much about it. It's a city that's almost double the size of Pittsburgh, and, as we found out, it's a more densely populated city. It, too, has lost population over time, but has seen an increase over the last decade. It's metro has always continued to grow. The fact that it's metro abuts to Chicago's metro probably doesn't hurt, but the cities each have their own economies. This thread has been hijacked into a Pittsburgh vs. Milwaukee thread by a handful of people, most of whom have never set foot in the other city.

Not being hateful, just want to know.
Historically, Milwaukee has always been a major hub of immigration.

There is NO type of diversity in Pittsburgh what so ever I went to school there and there were few minorities in anytype of leadership positions. Yes it is true many students go to school in Pittsburgh however a vast majority of them leave due to lack of opportunities. This is just a fact.
