Pretty defensive, aren't we? I'm not going to argue that Chicago is 'better' than Houston. It's a much different sort of animal. Let's just leave it at that.
Not defensive, but curious as to why you see Houston as inferior.
Chicago, if it is doing that bad, it will bounce back. Chicago has truly diverse economy and is truly a great city. I'm pretty sure it's not losing 70k jobs annually. I would like to see the sources for that.
Unemployment Rates for Metropolitan Areas
Chicago's recent unemployment rate is 9.4%. LOL ANGELES's latest unemployment rate is 11.8%. L.A is americas economic cesspool
L.A has the worst economy of major cities in US; over 2 million unemployed in L.A area is more people to all of Charlotte metro

No I am taking number of people who qualify for workforce in L.A metro and then getting 12% of total workforce population b/c that is the % unemployed. It comes out to 1.7 million unemployed; last month when unemployment rate of L.A was 12.5% it was over 2 million unemployed people. there is no covering up how 3rd world L.A's economy has become
This is hilarious, and all lies. Please provide accurate sources. Do not just claim random numbers.
If you look at the original thread, and the BLS numbers, Chicago has the highest annual job losses in the nation.
Chicago loses 70,000 jobs annually, worst in the nation. Detroit is second-worst, with 30,000 job losses annually.
And Chicago unemployment is far above the national average, again, according to the official govt. numbers (BLS).
And, again, Houston is gaining jobs. So Houston will surpass Chicago in a few years.
Use your little mouse and CLICK the link I gave. It's the official BLS numbers. You just keep stating the same phrase countless times. I at least GAVE the official numbers. Look at September 2009 and September 2010 for Employment, Unemployment and Unemployment rate.
I actually gave you all the numbers at one point, but you still just cut and pasted the same thing you have been for days.
Sounding like a broken record isn't really going to get you anywhere....
Go ahead and show how Chicago's metro rate of 9.4% is higher than the US rate of 9.6%.

There is something very wrong with your math.....
The number of people unemployed in Los Angeles peaked in July 2010 at 810,320. Currently 766,570.

You are speculating as well. You are assuming that everything will stay the same as it is right now. Chicago has the most diverse economy in North America. It is in no way the next Detroit. It would be harder for it not to bounce back.
Corrected it for you, however the source I got that from also listed Houston in the top 10 for NA, so watch out

There is nothing wrong with it. LA metro workforce population 8,990,967 [11.8%] Riverside metro workforce 1,982,891 [14.8%]. L.A metro 1,078,916 unemployed and Riverside metro 297,433 unemployed and combined it is 1,376,349 for greater L.A metro.
Ok so I was wrong by 300K people but 1.4 million unemployed is still 3rd world status
