Don't forgot Macau either, just south of Zhuhai. Went to both this summer. Zhuhai is really nice.
i have taken the bus between zhuhai and guangzhou a few times. theres a lot of farmland between the two cities. it's a stretch to say they're connected IMO.
why do they feel the need to try to combine places that are an hour or more apart? some metros are already stretching it a bit to me. all these countries are just trying to create mega-regions so they can be the largest "city" in the world and claim #1 in everything. Am I the only person that feels they should stop adding places to city's metros, UA or whatever? to me it just seems countries or cities want to make their cities populations & economic power look larger and larger so their rank can get higher and higher above the rest. but what do i know...

Wait hold up, this information was regarding estimates up till 2008 (as according to the chart) garnered by the US Census, a few things about that.
01. Houston will start edging closer to Dallas/Fort Worth but not surpassing it if ever, because of turn outs on its MSA & CSA being lower by 250,000 than projected where as Houston's was actually smaller in estimates and larger official and gained more.
02. How is Detroit still ahead of Atlanta up till 2008? With Atlanta's results that we saw from last week, and if Detroit stays strong, it may finish the decade staying at number 9.

Oddly the 2008 ESTIMATES may be close to the 2010 actuals
now that the census data is out, has this officially occured? wikipedia doesn't show nyc and philly combined in their UA's...and we all know wikipedia is the official word.

I've always though that "urbanized area" was a better gauge of the true size of a city than either city proper or metropolitan area population. It gives a better idea of the true influence of that area.
