Maybe ill let Msamhunter enlighten you on the 500
The 500 is one of the big three along with manaco and le mans and down the line the f1 world championship but even then monaco gets replaced as a big three and not the 500. Even to non racing fans the indianapolis 500 name carries weight abroad. The sb itself is the most watched single day event on the planet so it is more than a passing curiosity. If it happened one time, sure but year after year, no.

Just give credit where credit is due. I dont get why cd posters knock or downplay something in one place and praise that very same thing when its in another.

so yes i read the Chicago Tribune *Actually one of the very few reliable news outlets in Chi-Town*
Rahm Emanuel was talking about oh how Chicago can host a super bowl to Roger Goodell.
well #1 Chicago isnt compact. The Stadium is far away from downtown. Dallas repeat #1
#2 Chicago has unpredictable winters and the stadium is OUTDOORS Plus Lake Effect snow... oh boy. Dallas kind of Super Bowl but only worse? i think so.
#3 Chicago already has problems handling massive events like this. Why is McCormick convention center so far away from the loop? Super Bowl visitors after Indianapolis atleast want everything compact and right there. They dont want to be shuttled around everywhere.
Hence why Indy scored such great remarks.

But well see im sure the 32 owners would choose Indianapolis over Chicago for a Super Bowl again.
However before any of these 2 cities can bid. Minneapolis and San Fransisco need to get their Super Bowls.

But who says Chicagoans cant make the 3 hour trip to Indianapolis for another Super Bowl? Rahm Emanuel needs to lay down the pot and stop acting like he can get everything he wants.
Soldier Field is five minutes from downtown and McCormick place is the biggest covention center in the US and in a great spot IN the loop IMO. Plus McCormick is always a top 3 in hosting events usually battling with Vegas and Orlando.

Chicagoans generally don't give much thought to other cities. Any talk about some rivalry between us and NY or Indy or wherever is BS.

Maybe it's just a perceived dislike from people in Indianapolis? Indy doesn't really seem much on Chicago's radar...besides, there's a much stronger connection between Chicago and Milwaukee.

Indianapolis has 700,000 people yet has no major urban neighbourhood comparbale to most neighbourhoods in chicago. Chicagoans usually hate indianapolis tries at showing how big they are and urban they are when they are not comparable to chicago.

Chicagoans usually dont hate indianapolis though. I know some people from chicago that love indianapolis but, when they do hate it goes down to a superiority to the city

Grasping at straws much? Your posts continue to sound desperate and make it sound as if you have a large amount of jealousy towards Chicago.

Why wouldn't the mayor want to attempt trying to get a Super Bowl for his city? Him putting Chicago into the ring in no way shows he is acting like he can get anything he wants. Besides, what are you basing your assessment that Chicago has trouble handling large events?

I also would not compare Chicago to Dallas as far as logistics and overall setup. Chicago has a solid mass transit system. Soldiers Field is also very close to the core of the city. It's also located adjacent to several big tourists draws in Chicago. You have a large amount of hotels situated in the general vicinity of the stadium. Chicago would be a great place to host the event.

is it right next to the loop or do i have to walk 3-4 miles?
Indianapolis everything is concentrated in 1 square mile.
plus does chicago have the infrastructure to handle the massive crowds from the loop to stadium/convention center? probably not.
Plus Chicago HAS to copy Indy's standards now the NFL says so.
So you would need a Super Bowl Village maybe a few ziplines.
the loop is already crowded and has alot of people.
Indianapolis's downtown can absorb the influx of people.

My city? LOL
#2 oh yes there been problems with the festival.
People overrunning the fences and stealing to get in #1
People stabbed and shot #2

ya all is fine...... Chi-Town is the only city i know of that thinks its acceptable to allow the homicide rate to go up and just talk tough about fixing it.
As an article in the chicago forum said.
Chicago is the DEADLIEST Global city.
thats not an achievement to take lightly.
Crime kills a city. Need proof? /Points to Detroit Michigan
