Ummm... do you mean the north side? North Chicago is a suburb about 20 miles north of the city...

I think LA is more known for gang members, but if you look at the difference between their total gang number amounts, it's pretty staggering- Chicago has many more gang members.

First of California has more gangs because you are leaving out large cities such as Long Beach, Compton,Paramount, San Diego, Santa Ana and hundreds more cities with sustaining gang problems and Illinois only has Chicago making noise the reason there's more gang in Chicago than LA is because all the gangs are concentrated in one city as in LA gangs are spread throughout California and the county...overall California has much more gangs than Illinois. You have crips, bloods and Surenos in Chicago and you don't have any Chicago gangs that have actual hoods in LA. F~CHICAGO BTW

Detroit is #1 by far, but I would have to go with Chicago. Not only do they have the black gangs, they also have an established Costa Nostra presence.

At least Chicago isn't a warzone like DTW.

Los Angeles by far has the most popular gangs known nationwide and worldwide.

Chicago been a mob city since the al capone days and is more organized crime than gang banging .

Los Angeles is not bad as before due to being the most gang controlled city in america , gang injunctions and not having a big black population like in the 80s or 90s . Where in Chicago and the midwest is still heavily black populated.

Idk where some people get Chicago having more gang members from cause Los Angeles is way more bigger than Chicago and So cal as a whole has more people than Illinois by itself, alot of false numbers in that Chicago gang book that had bloods and surenos part of Chicago gang population ......

Here's official numbers from the latest fbi gang assessment
