Houston
Massive Exxon Mobile Campus

Port of Houston Capital Improvement Project/Panama Canal Expansion

New 50 story Hines Tower Downtown Houston

Downtown 30 story Marriott Marquis Hotel

Just the tip of the iceberg.... to lazy to list them all. But all of the aforementioned have already commenced construction or broken ground.

No it doesn't lol.

New York City, Miami, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Austin, Washington DC, Houston, and even Philadelphia and Boston are all currently ACTUALLY building more than Atlanta. Having things proposed and actually having buildings under construction is two different things.

Well if you keep up with Atlanta news, majority will start to break ground this summer or no later than before the end of this year.

A retail development called "Market Street Place" is about to begin construction. I must admit I am a little concerned about the fact that they have NO tenants announced.
Construction Ready to Start on $150M Market Street Place - Development Watch - Curbed SF

According to the article, the developers were in talks with retailers such as Target and Marshall's but those retailers opted to go elsewhere and now the developers are looking to go more upscale because apparently that's the segment that is expressing the most interest.

The features include:
Enjoy these great Market Street Place attributes:
• 6 levels of retail space
• Large floor plates of up to 45,000 square feet
• Up to 270 feet of frontage offering high visibility
• 167 underground parking spaces available onsite
• Convenient transportation hubs
• Multiple loading docks
• Freight elevators

The design looks very sterile and bland imo.

In recent months, many new high end retailers(Alexander McQueen, Christian Louboutin, Vera Wang, Valentino, Saint Laurent etc) have opened or announced expansion in downtown SF. The South Bay gained Balenciaga and Halston so it looks like we're on a roll. Hopefully this project will fill up quickly.

I'm always skeptical about these urban mall developments because they tend to attract formula retail/chain stores where they aren't needed. When lower-end tenants like Target and Marshall's fall out of the equation, one just can't help but wonder what high end tenants would truly contemplate making up for the void. Many of the most renowned retailers of San Francisco are in boutiques and individual locations, not giant flagships. I also find the architecture to be a bit too generic; at the same time, though, I appreciate its contemporary style. Market Street Place would mostly work to extend the Union Square district and further the Mid-Market Renaissance.

The thing is, with San Francisco Centre, The Metreon, and all of Union Square right in that immediate area, I'm not sure what is actually needed with regard to retail.

I agree with you about the design of the place lacking style. I think the idea is for the architecture to disappear, so as to interrupt the Market Streetscape as little as possible.

Because of the glass, it does seem to lend itself to a development like the Ferry Building or the Oxbow Market in Napa, where restaurants, wine bars, and specialty food vendors could set up and tourists from the hotels would be all over it. It would need to be a bit downscale from the Ferry Building and upscale from the Metreon to work though. Even then, I dunno...

LA Downtown News has posted their quarterly update on the projects currently in construction and in the pipeline in Downtown LA (Currently 87 projects.)

Development: Updates on 87 Downtown Projects - Los Angeles Downtown News - For Everything Downtown L.A.!: Development

Unfortunately there's no publication that does a development list for the entire city, but you could always head over to the Non-Downtown LA development thread over at SkyscraperPage.
