Not sure if its been posted in this thread and I'm too lazy to search, but here's a relatively up-to-date Google Map showing what's currently under construction and proposed for DTLA (under construction projects in red)
The NOMA/Union Market submarket in D.C. continues to flex it's muscles in the fight to be density king across the booming neighborhoods in D.C. With over 17,000 housing units built, under construction, or planned in this neighborhood on such a small footprint, I think NOMA/Union Market may be pulling away from the pack at this point.
LA Magazine dedicated their most recent issue to articles chronicling LA's explosive growth. Their web team actually went to the trouble of building a mini-site for it:
Even I didn't know if this would really happen when it was announced a few years ago, but I guess it's actually going to happen. This is game changing for the NOMA/Union Market sub-market.
How? The General Development thread there has 1.5 million views with 7800 replies. The next best one is 791,000 views with 3300 replies. Compare that with Chicago - the top thread there has 4.8 million views with 29,000 replies and the next one up has 4.1 million views with almost 20,000 replies. Even New York's top thread, at 2.8 million views doesn't even come close to that - though it's still more than Philadelphia with over 4 threads of over 1 million views each.

Wanda Tower at 381-383 E. Wacker Drive would rise 93 stories tall as opposed to the previously reported 88 stories, Chicago-based design architect Jeanne Gang said at the meeting Monday night.
At 1,144 feet, Wanda would be the third-tallest tower in Chicago if built.
The more than $900 million project, which Magellan Development hopes to open by 2019, would include 405 luxury condominiums and 169 hotel rooms. It would create 420 permanent jobs and generate $19 million in new real estate tax revenue for the city.
IT WILL BE ON THE LEFT ALONG THE CHICAHO RIVER BELOW.

The Chicago thread began in Oct. 2008, whereas the Philly thread began in Nov. 2013, to be fair. The Philly thread starts as a new one every two years or so, so as to be well updated and easier to find stuff in.

though to be fair thee is a fair amount of off topic diatribes on the Philly thread
Cant speak for the Chicago one, I think people are excited to see the development level in Philly today while not at the levels of some other cities is large and a departure from periods with little to be excited about
