I'd go with Watertown only due to being bigger and its proximity to the thousand Islands, Lake Ontario and the Adirondacks. It is also pretty close to a couple of bigger cities(Ottawa and Syracuse).
Hoover AL or Southaven MS?
Hoover, AL. Much much more scenic with the wooded hills.
They're both too close to bigger cities and seem like suburbs to me, so yech to both. Guess I'm going to pick Smyrna, TN, though, because Nashville is nicer than Atlanta. Actually, both areas look nice and woodsy.

Lafayette, LA or Madawaska, ME?
Lafayette. I prefer crawfish to caribou.
Kansas City's Crossroads Arts District or Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine?
Kansas City's Crossroads Arts District or Cincinnati's Over-the-Rhine?
I would go with Over-the-Rhine. After a quick scan, I really like the old architecture in that area, plus I prefer Cincinnati's natural setting overall.

Las Vegas, NV or Salt Lake City, UT?
SLC, easily. I've visited several times and gone around various parts of LV metro and they have some nice area like any other metro. But the area as a whole doesn't appeal to me at all and does have a tackiness about it find unappealing for a place to live. I love SLC, its people, its surroundings, and climate. But I hate the COL.

Buffalo or Cleveland?
Cleveland. Livelier, and not as much lake-effect snow.

Columbus, Ohio, or Columbus, Ga.?
Columbus OH. Just offers more in terms of big city amenities.
California MD or California PA?
