Hmm, if not for the winters this would be a slam dunk for MSP. I'll still lean towards MSP but Phoenix is within the same range for me overall due to better weather and a larger population.

Greenville for sure. I really do like Des Moines. But Greenville is one of the nicest towns of its size in the nation. Very pretty downtown, rolling green hills. Mountains to the north. Nice economy. Really low cost of living. Very nice people. Not far from Charlotte, Atlanta, and the ocean. Just a great are!

never been to Des Moines but I can't see how it'd be better than Greenville

Easily Chicago. One of my favorite cities. World Class AND affordable. Can't beat it. You couldn't pay me to live anywhere in the NYC area.

St. Louis, MO. Just had a trip there and really liked it. Plus I cannot stand the Steelers.

Tulsa. More affordable and is closer to a 4-season climate than Fresno.

Ashville, NC. Much better weather and still very green.
