Chicago. I do miss California, but feel its best days are done...and there's that whole lack of water thing. Chicago does have a few drawbacks, besides the weather, but I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. It's also a lot more affordable.
SLC for the skiing though I find the high desert kind of blah in summer. Don't know a thing about Omaha though so I may not be giving it credit it deserves here.

Park City or Aspen?
Going simply off reputation, Park City. Apparently it hasn't been overrun with smug like Aspen has.
Chicago. Bigger and more of almost everything, and a better climate.
