How is San Jose better? I mean I just don't see it. Yeah Seattle metro does have homeless, and downtown isn't the best in shopping but I didn't see a mall in San Jose? If you want shopping there is so many great areas to do. And since this is about metro areas University village, Bellevue, south center are my favorite places to shop, Lynwood has a cool mall too. Now you have an argument if you include San fransisco but NOT with just Silicon Valley. Anyways, that's why I left San Jose it was boring. I didn't see much to do but people like you made it sound so great so I drove all the way down there to drive around, park, walk for a little, then leave again to San fransisco. Actually in fact later that day I did a super of the moment trip to LA!

Valley Fair/Santana Row, Great Mall Milpitas for shopping and Willow Glen, JapanTown, Alameda and Los Gatos for stroll.
Yes everyone has their own opinion. One of my new hires is from Issaquah, WA and cant stop talking about how much more cosmopolitan and worldly the Bay Area is than Seattle.
Seattle can't measure up to San Jose: economy, population, weather, diversity, shopping, attractions and downtown. Silicon Valley is where it's at!!!!!

What are some economical stats you've got? Anyways, You COULD be right but it comes down to that I feel like Seattle is a city San Jose feels like a big suburb... It feels so weird to even compare them. But what are you economical stats for Silicon Valley vs Seattle Metro?
I'm about 98% sure Seattle is cheaper. Plus, Seattle has some of the best scenery in the country for a major city. In my opinion it is only second to the SE arm of Alaska which takes the cake compared to everywhere else, and they are close by, which is another plus. Any outdoor recreation appears more accessible in Seattle than the Bay Area.
Washington as a whole appears to be in better shape than California.
