Also without any Olympic sports.

I looked it up as I had never heard of this event. It’s only “sports” like bowling, salsa dancing and canoe polo that are not at the olympics. There may well be a lot of people at the games to compete, but it won’t be a big event to anyone except the competitors. Is it even televised? The PGA is a worldwide event with very famous athletes and watched by Millions of people around the world. These games are not.

Yes... that's one of the reason it exists.... the Olympics wanted to showcase more events than what is just in the Olympics. Makes no sense to feature the same events. It is also televised by the same channels as the Olympics, NBC and the Olympics Channel.

The World Games features sporting contests that are not part of the Olympics; it functions as sort of a complement in that regard. The cool thing about Birmingham hosting the games is the amount of investment in the city's core that is occurring as a result. A new stadium is being built, existing venues are getting major upgrades, and new public spaces are emerging within the city. Hosting the games will hopefully give Birmingham an opportunity to revamp its image on a global stage in the 21st century and will continue to pay dividends for Birmingham long after the World Games are over.

This is not true. Oklahoma has eleven Level III ecoregions within it's borders. Alabama has five.

Not saying Alabama is not "prettier" than Oklahoma as a rule but it is certainly not more "diverse" by any measure.

In fact Oklahoma has as many level III ecoregions as any other state in the lower 48 besides California which I believe has one more.

Ecoregions and diverse scenery aren't really synonymous though. Oklahoma may have more ecoregions but scene diversity still goes to Alabama.

Alabama actually has six Level III ecoregions.

I think when you consider the level of geograpgic diversity for each state for both Level II and III, you get a more accurate picture of how things break down. Alabama has a bit more diversity among its major geographic regions whereas Oklahoma has more diversity within its geographic regions.

Alabama wins by a landslide. Not even comparable.

Alahama is a real Southern state with nice beaches, forests, and better food.

It's closer to Biloxi, MS; a cool vacation spot with tons of nice casino buffets, closer to New Orleans and Florida.

Yes but Alabama does have the highest diversity of Flora and Fauna in the country. The Mobile Watershed is know as "America's Amazon" for a reason
