The Cybertruck is fugly as sin. I certainly wouldn't want my city associated with it. Let Tulsa have it.
The other Tesla models are pretty sleek. Well, I guess mixing luxury with pickup tricks don't go well. I guess "sleek", "futuristic", and "pickup" can't go together aesthetically.
Probably didn't miss it. They didn't show any enthusiasm for Amazon HQ2. The citizens of Austin are actually anti-development believe it or not.
Yes, this is very true. Austin did NOT want to grow to what it is today. They want things to return to the way they were before they become a tech hub and mainly associate only with locals. They harshly retaliate to anyone considering to move there as well as any business expansion or growth. Austin is NOT Dallas in terms of being pro-growth. Sometimes I feel this is actually the reason Austin attracts so many corporations, people want what they can't have.
Austin's people themselves are friendly in person but just hint that you're thinking about moving to Austin in their forums and you will be absolutely shocked at some of the responses you'll get.

Yep. If watering holes were open in Austin and you talked to the guy next to you they would most likely say "oh please don't let that happen, we do not need more people." Kind of ironic and sad.
If it comes to Central Texas it won't be in the Austin city limits or Travis county, that is 100% sure. I do think you would see excitement out of Hutto or San Marcos to land Tesla.

No wonder, city of Austin has added around 50% more people since 2000. Tulsa, only around 2.5%.
Austin metro growth since 2010, nearly 30%.
Tulsa metro growth since 2010, 6.5%.
In the Austin forum, Tesla coming to Austin thread got closed before anyone brought up that Tulsa was also in the running.

Yep and the locals hate it. I am incredibly friendly in person and when I was in Austin as a tourist, anytime I mentioned "hey,, I'd love to live here" the reaction was like "eh, no you don't want to do that" Not a warm place at least for the south

Another one is open but their opinion of it hasn't changed. Many of them think (hope) Elon Musk is bluffing in effort to twist California's arm given he had made proposals to move in the past. I personally am indifferent about it. I truthfully dont think Austin is a good place for him TBH. It's not very logistically sound, is limited on water usage (manufacturing plants use alot of water), and may also be more expensive than the general employer base may beable to afford except the higher tiers.

or Houston "in terms of being pro-growth". Lots of Austinites diss DFW and Houston for being soulless, sterile corporate communities. Some ex-Houston (born and raised) transplants also chime in with throwing shade at their birthplace.

Mention "California" on 6th Street and you'll end up in a bar fight!
