It often gets overshadowed by nearby Austin; while San Antonio is only well-known among Texans. It could rival Orlando and Las Vegas as a tourist destination if it wasn't deep in the heart of Texas.
Your last part goes a bit to far. But yes I would agree with mentioning San Antonio.

Going too far is what Kerrtown is known for. But it’s entertaining in the process

But yeah. Whoever says San Antonio isn’t the most humble major city in Texas is crazy. It doesn’t have the “We have higher quality standards than other parts of Texas” Austinites that Spade mentions. It doesn’t have the “Broke wannabe rich people” in Dallas that people seem to mention (though I don’t get this vibe). And it doesn’t have the “H-Town is better than anywhere else” people that me and Gaylord mention. Heck San Antonio might just be the most humble 2 mill plus metro in the nation. I wish Citi data had included it. That would’ve been my vote instead of Philly were it included.

Residents of any city tend to defend themselves when outsiders try to attack it. Most of the time those outsiders post unproven accusations or anecdotal stereotypes.
You will see it on almost every US Forum.

OP mentioned this earlier, but San Antonio was grouped with the "mid-size" cities rather than with the "major" cities.

"...Here it is in a nutshell: Fort Worth hates Dallas. Houston hates Dallas and Austin. San Antonio hates Austin. Austin wishes all the rest of us would just go away, and Dallas pretends that none of the rest of us even exist..."

That's pretty spot on, lol.

That article is extremely boomer. Which makes sense because it’s from Texas Monthly

Lmao “global pop culture sees Dallas as the world’s oil capital”. Does anyone actually think that?

I'm reading it for the first time now.

I mean, while it is exaggerated and "boomer," it's not wrong...¯\_(ツ)_/¯
