Lamexican.....remember 125th is a main strip. When they refer to that area, they mean everything. If you want to test out how safe it is, wander into one of the side blocks.

And anyways.....125th, for being one of the main streets in NYC is pretty run down looking. I wont be confusing it for Park ave.

I walked from Amsterdam 125th to Lexington 125th to catch the 4 train.

Hint: St Nicholas and 125th lies in between those too.

- Harlem is still contains the worst parts of Manhattan.

- When talking about NYC bad nabes, I wouldn't hesitate to put Harlem up there with the S.Bronx, North BK etc

- Many people think that just because Harlem is in Manhattan, that it can't be bad or as bad as other places. That's so far off from the truth when really, throughout NYC history, Harlem has probably been it's most infamous nabe and has held the title of murder capital many times.
Just curious what would you say is the worst nabe in NYC? Ive being reading and a lot of people have different opinions on it just wondering what you would say.

Yeah Benton Harbor is very bad and outta of control! I believe the crime rate there is comparable to East St. Louis. Then you cross the river into St. Joe's and it is rich and crime is almost non-existent.

Of course 125th is a main strip, but St. Nick and 125 and lexington are complete different worlds. I love parts of Harlem and consider many of the blocks near 125th very desirable. Always people out and a very large police presence. I would say the change happens somewhere near the LIRR bridge.

I don't think there is a worst. It would be hard to quantify.

For 2008? It would have probably been between Brownsville and Hunts Point...I Lean B-ville cause of homicides.

I give 2007 to East Harlem.

You know my nabe is Washiongton Heights and it has its good parts and not so good parts( like harlem). Not all that dangerous unless you're involved with a gang or drugs.

Who's the dummy? You should have taken the D to the 4 and saved yourself the walk and your fear.
