Wow you ever heard of a straw man? Part of the discussion was dealing with foods that are related to a city. Nowhere was it claimed that these foods alone make a city unique. They would be one of many things that make city different from others...

I love Colorado and Denver's great, but it does seem rather bland/generic to me. It's like the Honda Accord of cities. A great car, and fun to drive...considering it's a family car... Other cities that feel generic to me include Seattle (besides the scenery), Chicago, Kansas City, Atlanta, Phoenix, Sacramento, San Diego, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Dallas, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Oklahoma City... Could go on I'm sure.
Not a single city you mentioned is generic. Each one has a characteristic that makes it distinguished from the others. I cannot see any reasonable person believing in such an absurd assertion. Its likely you believe the aforementioned cities are generic because you just haven't really experienced them.

Now perhaps a generic city is one that is mainly composed of panned communities i.e. housing tracts, strip malls but now were talking about bedroom communities.

Even the most newest cities listed have characterful, old sections in the city. Some just are not as extensive as the older N.E. cities, and some have their city boundaries so large that they fit the boring generic everywhereville in the city boundaries. I never came across a city that didn't have an older characterful neighborhoods. Just the amount of characterful hoods varies greatly.

Normal, Illinois? Bland, Missouri? Boring, Oregon? Plain City, Ohio? Not that those are cities as such.
