I already said that. By your logic Fresno should have the best food though b/c they are in the valley. There is a reason SF is MUCH higher regarded than LA w/ less than 1/2 the population. And yes Keller is known from the Bay Area, extremely common knowledge among foodies. BTW, more details for you, his better restaurants are in SF and NYC (French Laundry and Per Se). Not LA...
Vegas has more Keller associated stuff than LA.
So please tell me about all of your great knowledge that seems to defy the knowledge of every foodie on the planet that LA is somehow #1 dining city in the United States, which was your claim.
They do fresh and local everywhere. You guys act like it is something unique? Austin has a huge local and food truck scene also. It's right down the road for you why aren't you boosting Austin.
Again, what the hell? You all seem like just some folks with pedestrian knowledge of the food world trying to boost your city out of some lack of self worth. Come saying that stuff you guys talk about in the real world, ANYWHERE outside of LA and people will look at you like a complete idiot calling LA #1 food city, PLEASEE.
You edited your post after you found out he does in fact own a restaurant here in LA. You've now altered your stance, saying he isn't "associated" with LA as he is with other cities. Funny stuff.
How diverse is Austin btw? How big is the metro area? Or Fresno for that matter,
since you're comparing one of the biggest, most diverse cities in the world to them? There are probably more Asians living in Greater LA than there are PEOPLE living in Austin.
I like how you bring up the food trucks in Austin--a fad that began here in LA!
This isn't going well for you. Better run along and appeal to the authority of your buddies out in the real world some more.

In the 4 years I was gone, the food truck scene EXPLODED. My god. If you drive down Museum Row during lunch/tourist hours, the entire south side of Wilshire is taken up by trucks that make all sorts of ethnic fusion.

About 20 or so congregate on Third and Spring during Artwalk. Indian, Thai, Fusion, Kosher--they're all there. Like a little slice of heaven.
I think several of you need to take a few days off in order to re-read the terms you agreed to about conduct in the forums, staying on topic, not discussing other members, etc etc etc.
Grow up, folks - or you'll be getting vacations. This is a web forum, not Kinder Care.If someone trolls, then report their post using the report post icon in the corner, and MOVE ON. Do not bicker with them, do not discuss them, and do not quote their troll posts and respond to them. Otherwise you are JUST as guilty of disrupting the thread as they are, and will be infracted in the same way as anyone else who is disrupting the thread.
This is all subjective...new orleans creole is very good and their crawfish but outside of that, new orleans variety is very limited
los angeles does not have its own cuisine that they can claim theirs but it does have more variety...if you are not a big fan of creole then los angeles would have a better food scene
Los Angeles has the widest market for high end restaurants in the country
pretty much all celebrities who do not live in the LA area have either a home here or end up relocating to Los Angeles
Just imagine the amount of high end cuisine that goes on on the after oscar parties, dinners etc.
No doubt Los Angeles would crash New York against the wall when it comes to the food scene in every
cathegory except jewish delis lol... They do have better pickles in New York
The California cuisine is world famous as well as its wine and cheese scene
I am not saying that LA should lay claim to this but being the largest and richer city in California
it consumes the lions share on it.
New Orleans food is great, is just more localized, but it is one of the
best food cities in the US no doubt.
hahahaha. thanks for making me laugh. Not in this century, nor the next one. You are 110% right about the Jewish delis.
Also SF is distinctly 'richer' than L.A. - per capita and household incomes are considerable higher. SF is the home base of the wine scene you (wrongly) lay claim to. AFAIK there is not a single cheese made in L.A.

This is why other posters can't stand California posters on this site. You can honestly say LA has better delis than DC, Philly, Boston, Chicago and NY? Seriously......
Oh, and let's not even forget this link is written by THE LA TIMES!
