thats light rail though. The Orange, red and Blue lines are ugly, and the size of the track wont allow newer models.
The fact of new Blue Line cars demonstrates that you are wrong about new models. The tracks are all standard gauge. There is, however, an issue regarding tunnel sizes and turning radii, which is why the lines cannot interchange cars.
Further regarding the Blue Line, the new cars on it look awesome, and I am very hopeful that the new car order for the Orange Line will result in something similar.
Yeah some of the new blue line trains in boston are smooth. DC has a great subway. Id have to say the best a subway could ever look is the NYC subway art in the 70s and 80s. that **** was freakin amazing. Largest moving art gallery in the world.
its NYC for me, and DC being 2nd...The Philly subway cars need to be updated.
I am from Philly. Their subway cars (SEPTA, not PATCO) are 1982 Kawasaki B-IV's (they are repainted now to silver... and been known to have speeds up to 90 mph on express tracks) and the MFL uses 1999 AdTranz M-4 cars... so it does not need to be updated.
Of course, I love the look of SEPTA's, gotta love the hometown first, more like 1A then NYCMTA is 1B. Then followed by MARTA, love their subway system... and Five Points Station is awesome!
3rd is WMATA MetroRail. Can't say that I like Miami's, Baltimore's or Los Angeles, they ALL use the same rail cars, not being original.
