There's a new home Uptown for special Columbus State University visitors.

A ribbon cutting ceremony and open house opened CSU's new Uptown apartments. The apartment will be used by visiting scholars and artists who may come to the University for a week or a semester.

These new apartments are built on the ground floor of Broadway Crossing.

"At least three apartments will be an outstanding addition to our Riverside campus. These visiting faculty from all over the world will be able to be part of the pulse of uptown Columbus," says Tim Mescon, CSU President.

The visiting scholars come to CSU to teach, lecture, or bring outside expertise to the University.

The main entrance of PeachTree Mall will be closed for the next two months while it's under construction.

The entrance at Manchester Expressway and University Avenue's intersection will be replaced as part of a plan to upgrade the 37-year-old property.

All other entrances of the mall will remain open during construction.

The mall's general manager tells us the price tag for this project is around $1 million.

He says PeachTree Mall is expected to continue construction next year at the entrance near Legacy Car Dealership.

They say they are going to remodel the entire property over the next 5 years. Glad to hear they are still investing in the mall. GGP also owns Augusta mall and the remodel they've done on that property is really nice. Maybe they can do something like that for peachtree.

Williams Road is proposed to be widening. Some of the changes would include widening the road to four lanes and making intersection improvements.

The project could take 6-7 years to complete.

I agree. Hope they do something with the space upfront. Fingers crossed it's something nice!

Admittingly I don't have much expierence with traffic circles or roundabouts, but would 3 lights be easier on Williams road?

I live near that Williams Rd. area and it is more than time for this project to come to this road. It is awful during rush hour traffic. Especially when schools are back in. The Williams Rd. and Fortson Rd. intersection have needed a traffic light for about 10 years or more now. I just hate that they are saying it will take 6-7 years.

After years of planning and debate, Columbus Council on Tuesday signed off on spending almost $5 million on widening Moon Road from Wilbur Drive to Whittlesey Boulevard.

The funds had been budgeted in the fiscal 2014 budget, but council approval was required to move the project forward.

The two-lane stretch of road will be widened to three lanes with turning lanes at street intersections. The price tag includes all drainage work, curbing and gutters, traffic signals and pavement markings, according to city documents.

City Planning Director Rick Jones said people can expect to see work start within about 60 days, but added that the first step in such a project is to move the utilities along the road, which is a time-consuming project, so it will be longer before people see actual roadwork.

3 much needed projects. Man is traffic going to be crazy while construction is going on! The apartment complex on Williams Rd. is moving along nicely. Just wish these roads were done 5 years ago. There is so much development happening that way.
