Please help! I don't know how these got on my computer as I never click on links from emails, the only thing I can think of is my SO used my computer and clicked on links from his emails which he does on a regular basis on his own laptop, which I've had to re-install his OS on numerous occasions! I use MSE (which didn't catch it) I also use malwarebytes (which caught the exploit) restored my computer to an earlier time (mistake!) Safety Scanner caught trojandownloader after I did this. Both viruses either removed or quarantined, no obvious issues, just wondering if I should do anything else??
Expecting a response in 39 minutes? It's generally accepted to wait a DAY or so before bumping your own post, people don't live here, they'll answer when they can.
If you've scanned with multiple apps and they show your clean there's not much else to do if your not having any problems.
Hmmm...I beg to differ @NHDave...people do live on here...I am not familiar with the CD "lingo", but I take "bumping" to mean I am not allowed to comment on my own thread?!? My actual question is if anyone knows exactly what these viruses are and what they can do to your computer (in plain English please)...thanks...
For someone who is asking for advice, you are being pretty rude.
Nevertheless, here is some more info for you. Sorry if it doesn't meet your expectation of plain English.
TrojanDownloader:Win32/Tracur.AH is a trojan that silently downloads and installs other programs without consent. This could include the installation of additional malware or malware components to an affected computer.
Exploit.Drop.X is usually found to install fake anti-spyware programs. These have been making the rounds lately.
I'm probably asking for trouble, but why was doing a System Restore a mistake?

Beg to differ all you want, I don't care, but let me teach you how to find things on your own, because with that attitude your not gonna get much help here.

Thank you...that's actually the clearest answer I received in all my research...BTW it's not a rudeness problem it's menopause I first discovered a problem when I clicked on a link to a news story and it redirected me to a fake antivirus website, I ctrl-alt-deleted to escape then ran malwarebytes (it took quite a few attempts as my laptop kept overheating & turning off, never happened before) which picked up on the exploit.drop.3 and quarantined it, I then restored to an earlier time, which prompted me to run MSE and then a Safety Scan which picked up the trojandownloader and removed it. After researching I discovered that I possibly reloaded the virus from the system restore (malwarebytes advises against doing a system restore for that very reason) Not really having any residual effects, just needed some info...
Now who's being rude and the last thing I would do is click on a link you provided...
