Its well below the national median in whiteness. Ny no stretch of the imagination is it one of the whitest states in the US, not even close.

Its virtually nothing like Vermont in terms of demographics, the issue isn't diversity.

CT is way more than 62% white. A lot of those Latinos are white.

And there is definitely mingling of races of whites and blacks in CT. Drive through Hartford or New Britain, and you can see blacks and Hispanics together all the time.

You are right its 63.2% white.

Hispanics don't count. And tbh I don't see any white Hispanics in CT. A lot of fo Latinos check white 1) because they are not black. 2)They are worried about deportation and immigration 3) internalized racism 4) it is the default

Yes- in New England Blacks and Hispanics intermingle extensively. But non-hipsanic Whites and Blacks do not.

Even if you count White Hispanics- CT is only 66.4% white.https://data.burlingtonfreepress.com...cticut/040-09/

This is not the Census, this is 2016-2020 5 years ACS estimates. On balance- that is an estimate from 2018.

CT in 2020 was 63.2% non-hispanic white and 66.4% white including Hispanics.

Right, good work. It's herd mentality in CT. Nothing more nothing less. They don't mingle with one another and they don't frequent the same events or social settings. That's not racism. Most probably don't care if a black professional moves in next door.
Most southern states are also +70% white so that point goes out the door.

Not sure how or why people feel CT is so white. It's clearly not.

But I think people conflate African Americans to a "diversity" so people think states like Michigan or Ohio or Pennsylvania are diverse or what have you when they're really some of the whitest states out there. These complaints.

In my life in MA and CT most white people in those estates literally do not even know where African Americans and Hispanics hang out, what the culture is, or what the history or colloquialisms are. It's a near total obliviousness of cultures that are not white. This can happen to black people who are not native to those states too because they often arrive in higher class stations in life and thus live around white people and arent immersed into the local culture of native black people.

No, just other Joe Schmos like myself, but we talk about artists and musicians. Does that count?
About a month ago over dinner I told some I was planning a trip overseas to visit famous frescos, opera houses and concert halls. Then we got in a heated debate over which 1976 album was better - Rocks by Aerosmith or Led Zeppelin Prescence.

Definitely, CT is like most southern states.

Similarly, CT is like most southwestern states.

Now lets hold hands and everyone repeat after me: everywhere is the same, everywhere is the same.

Edit: A more current map of the Hispanic population density.

My brother in christ, those first two maps are from 32 years ago...1990.

CT's Hispanic population is top 15 in terms of %. And its above the median for black which is about 7%.

For those of you who think CT is no different from elsewhere in the nation in terms of intolerance (be it racism or classism), go spend some time in Nassau County or Suffolk County Long Island. There are countless incidents of brazen, overt bigotry in both counties, many of them recent events that have been captured on camera (and thus have made their way onto YouTube and other video-sharing sites.) While some of LI is now well-integrated (like Baldwin and Valley Stream), it's town-specific, and in many municipalities there is still an ever-present air of hostility. If you think CT is sooooo bad, go spend some time there, and see what it's like. I won't deny people here may have reservations about newcomers to their neighborhood, but it's nowhere near the level of what you'll see on LI. You have no idea. And if you still think people in CT are irredeemably racist and just don't realize it or in denial over it, go spend time volunteering with the Anti Defamation Leave or the Southern Poverty Law Center. Those groups are actually doing something about bigotry in this country, and they have no time for virtue-signaling or whining about those eeeevil microaggressions. They've got their hands full with bigger problems.
