New Haven might have to push out the lower income folks because Yale buying properties and fixing up property values skyrocket it happening in fair haven as well.

Robert A. M. Stern designed the new colleges. He is a master of classic architecture. Some people only want to see modern buildings built but I think it is about time we stop building those mostly ugly cold glass boxes. I think they will be beautiful. Jay

I can assure you Fair Haven is far from skyrocketing. It's still cheap there.

New Haven isn't like NYC. People won't be displaced with a shortage of affordable housing. If anything, the influx of new businesses and residents will help some rise from poverty with more employment opportunities. There are still tons of affordable (and unfortunately still poverty stricken) neighborhoods outside the downtown core. Also, rents should stabilize a bit with more housing on the market. The case before was that pretty crappy, dated apartments were going for a premium because of the housing shortage.

New Haven still has a long road ahead to growth. Remember, its peak population was once 160,000.

Another 115 apartments coming to downtown. They will be built at the corner of High and George where the Budget rental lot is now. It will be a mixed use development with retail on the bottom floor.

I wonder if anybody will try to build a block away where Walgreen's is right now. I'm sure Walgreen's doesn't want to give up their parking lot, but that's becoming a densely populated area where they could get a good price for that land.

I'm surprised they are putting in any parking there. Looks like 13 spots plus handicapped.

I also didn't realize the empty spot between there and the Regency is all the Salvation Army land. That block of George is going to go from almost nothing to dense new buildings in no time.
