Yeah, definitely a bust here as well. I think the entire coast had a freeze warning and many areas didn't get to it. I'll have to pull the states min temps this season tomorrow morning.

Do you guys believe Portland got their first snowfall before their first freeze??? That is a crazy stat. Never happened before.

And history was made just like CT's October snowstorm. Bangor and Caribou never seen that much snow this early.

There's a really impressive dry airmass out there today. Thats what a strong Arctic High will do. imagine this was January.

Dewpoints are 15-25 below normal in the East right now.

BDL 21°
Bridgeport 33°
Danbury 27°
Tallahassee 20°
Atlanta 26°
Pittsburgh 18°
Philly 20°

Another deep arctic trough next week. Air mass getting stronger and more impressive. I'm starting to feel bad for Canada.

Do you think NWS Upton will ever say something like this? LOL!!!

Winter seems to have arrived a bit early. If this pattern persists, we may be dealing with another rather extreme Winter.

Wow so locations in FLORIDA had a freeze before we did, I wonder if that's unprecedented......

Did that happen here in 2011? I know it did for NYC so I'm willing to bet it did for BDR. Not as sure for DXR or BDL though.....

I lived in Evansville, IN for 5 years (served by NWS Paducah)...let me tell ya, those guys are WIMPS. It may not seem like it from the latitude, but snow is rare enough that 4" shuts the place down. They average about 12" per season.

BDR got their first freeze October 31, 2011. So yeah, they got snow before first freeze.
BDL got it 1 day before on the 28th

No idea how to check how rare it is for Florida to get a freeze before BDR. Would need to dig.

That's funny and interesting. Poor guys. lol Not sure when you were there but looks like they got 14 inches of snow in 1 day Dec 22, 2004. Yikes! More than Season average in 1 day!

Dont forget that a colder fall could signal a warm winter...

One example is the Halloween Nor'Eatser, after rarely any snow fell (2011-2012).

Eh, there really isn't much of a correlation between fall temps and winter temps. What's much more important is the state of the teleconnectors, ENSO(El Nino/La Nina), and global conditions(Snow cover, tropical season, etc.).
