I tell people that I will make the call at 8:30 a.m. if we are going boating or not and it doesn't matter what it looks like to them and that I am the one that will make the call. 90% of the time we go out no matter what and while we are out I will keep my eye on the clouds. This is kind of what I think we all should be doing with snow as well. As you say forecasting is out of control these days with everyone trying to Hype the heck out of every single event. Let's just hope the weather channel will stop naming every single tiny storm and maybe we'll get back to what it used to be like 10 years ago where a snow storm could come and go without the craziness. However I will say that the weather guys hyping up the storm definitely has earned a few days off from work.
For all the modeling, ensembles, and technology utilized by meteorologists --- all the world wants (and particularly during the summer months) is a forecast that reports temperature, chance of rain and duration of rain for a given day. It's the last prong that kills me for all the reasons you articulately laid out. I see plans get cancelled routinely since it says 75% chance of precip but the underlying cause is a quick shower or T-Storm. Not an all day rainout. Vexing.

Yeah, This weekends storm stays south of us. Should be a nice weekend for us.

Next week the warm break comes! Hang in there another 5 days. You'll really feel the Spring air starting Tuesday.

GFS says Friday next week looks to be the warmest day but its still 7 days away so it might be Thursday instead.
Cold front and inland rain storm comes through so it's only like 3 days of Spring airmass but a nice break!

GFS6z for next Friday afternoon temps

For Bridgeport the mean date is April 14th. Last year it happened April 11th. Usually Early April for the coast.

For Hartford the mean date is April 1st. Happened in February this year and last yr.

First & Last times hitting 70° at BDR

Zoomed in. Impressive totals for this time of yr.. Looks like a wall at the NY/CT border and I can confirm that's true.. My mom and cousin in New Rochelle had 8-10" and Greenwich had 6".
heaviest stuff missed me by only 25 miles.

Went to Home Cheapo to pick up Driveway Sealers. Guess it was wishing thinking. Too soon?! Usually April they get them in the desk said.

Another note... I wish we can go a week without worrying about precip. Saturday better day of the weekend but Sunday should be fine too.

Hey one can dream right? Fixing on doing mine too...a nasty crack opened last year. Hoping some good sales come along on patch. I’m just thankful I didn’t start any seedlings.
