So apparently Seabreeze development at the coast prevented the front to push south and all it did was stall over coastal CT today! Not expected. Slow moving cells = rain rain rain. But inland CT is too far north of the front to get all this rain. Showers here and there yes, but not what we're getting.

That's why that new batch over NJ is heading here again. The front is just stalled over here.

.SYNOPSIS...
A weak cold front sags slowly south through the area today,
gradually washing out as it works offshore tonight. High
pressure will then build in for Friday. A warm front will lift
north of the region Friday night. Bermuda high pressure will be
in place over the weekend.

Scattered showers will continue to focus along weak boundary
that has become nearly stationary across Long Island. Seabreeze
development along south shore has halted the boundary`s
southward progress. The best thermal forcing has been to the
north of the front, where rainfall rates in excess of half to
three-quarters of an inch an hour across the CT Coast and
portions of NE NJ and the Lower Hudson Valley. Uncertainty
remains in how much the airmass can destabilize this afternoon
should breaks in the overcast develop. This would increase the
potential for isolated severe wet microbursts, with the best
chance being inland.

PW values in excess of 2 inches and weak shear also supports
slow moving cells with a localized heavy rainfall. The best
chances for any poor drainage or low lying flooding will be
across northeastern New Jersey, southern portions of the Lower
Hudson Valley, and coastal CT where the heaviest rainfall has
been received the last 24 hours.

Doesn't look like anything on radar, but some pretty decent rainfall rates now... Consistent too.

Will feel like 110° Saturday and Sunday in Hartford. You know what that means? Saturday NIGHT time is gonna be one of those classic summer suffocating nights if you don't have AC. How did we ever survive in the past???!!

You should be happy about that. Did you know that JFK airport got up to 86 yesterday just because they had a 1-2 hour break in the clouds? (and that was with high humidity) and Islip 84 for the same reason?, while as little as 10 miles to the north and beyond it stayed in the 70s (i.e. Central Park high was 79, LGA 78, BDL 77, BDR 78).

By the way, the 2.74" of rain at BDR yesterday broke a record for the date. Previous record was 2.21" in 1965.

Let the heat wave start! Day 1. New Britain is now at 90, with a dew point of "only" 73. Yay!

I can take heat to a point. It's the humidity which kills me. Got away with a black t-shirt with the cloud cover on Thursday. I will wear a mostly white New Britain Bees t-shirt tomorrow.
