South Greenwich. Dry ground with lightning and thunder and some blue in sky
Went down to Norwalk around 3:50 and it was a flash flood. In 30 minutes there was steam coming off the roads and it there were drying tyre tracks. After that, went into New Canaan. Almost completely dry in town center at 4:45. Then, in the blink of an eye, it went from no rain to monsoon. I'm not joking - you could see the gust of wind containing the rain instantly deposit a monsoon there. Fastest transition I've ever seen.

Fast forward to IMBY. Not a single drop from this storm (only a "T" from the cell around 2:30 PM). 3.5 miles away from town center. It was even dry 2 miles away from town center. Talk about LOCALIZED

My family and friends in Fairfield are posting photos of storm damage. Flooding, trees and power lines down, house damaged. Called a mini tornado. Jay

We got slammed. Probably a microburst there.

1.40" fell in 1 hour with an incredible thunderstorm. It was a separate piece from that line that came from NJ. Formed ahead of it. Interesting.

Didn't expect this but THANKS!
And its pouring again! Gonna go over 3" today.

Light show in progress

I'm about to go over 3" today with this current line. Which will bring the monthly total over 5 inches half way through July. Lots of flash flood warnings out there in NJ, NY, CT

Radar Loop 5:20-9:20pm July 17, 2019

Lots of wind damage reports, flooding, and even homes that got hit by lightning.

Stare at Long Island sound and the redeveloping of those storms. That's why I was getting a light show then it just merged into the line coming from the west.

Reds = torrential rains
