I'm wondering if they did Because I have a picture (somewhere) from ~15 years ago when they were in a severe cold snap and all went outside in their underwear to snap a picture.

If you're in the area the Observatory is worth a visit.

Over 1,200 customers in Connecticut are without power on Saturday amid the arctic blast and record cold.

According to Eversource, 1,210 customers do not have power as of 5:00 p.m.

The outages appear to be mostly affecting customers in Glastonbury, Greenwich, New Canaan, Ridgefield, Thompson, Union and Woodstock

Whoever did that meme must have declared that "early" as Bridgeport and Islip had the temperatures shoot up near midnight and BDR and Islip both had highs of 28, achieved at 11:59pm.

Even Boston was 18 at 11:59pm, Hartford/BDL 16, and Providence 16. Still very impressive highs at those 3 and obviously their record lows (especially Boston, which last had -10 or below in 1957) were epic.

I don't know about Saturday but Friday night during the wind my son in Danbury had an outage of an hour or more twice.

And on this date in 2001, we got more snow than a few of those figures above. The famous rush hour storm where cars were stranded on CT highways for hours. Took me almost 2 hours to get from the east side of Meriden to the center of Southington, and that was not taking 691. There was a good chance I would have spent the night in my car if I had taken 691.

Well, talk about lacking perspective. What we got yesterday, for a total of 36 hrs, is normal weather for Minnesota & northern Wisconsin. Including the Twin Cities with 3 million people.

Heck, it's normal as close as Montreal, Burlington VT, and northern Maine.
