Correct. They have a lack of fear because we haven't had taken a deterrent approach to punishing criminals for decades now. There was once a time where it was understood that there were consequences for one's actions, but that's a thing of the past in this state.

Worst thing ever invented was concurrent sentencing. It makes all offenses but the 1st absolutely penalty free to criminals.

Dems and Rep are divided over plans they going be another session soon.

“Juvenile crime in this state is out of control, and House Republicans believe that is unacceptable,” said Fishbein, the top GOP member of the legislative Judiciary Committee.”

They called for better ways for police and prosecutors to determine whether arrested youths have extensive criminal records that can result in immediate detention rather than release to their parents.

Also, they proposed electronic monitoring for juveniles with criminal records; mandatory transfers to adult court for serious crimes; and the creation of a new charge of vehicular larceny that can reach felony charges for second stolen-car offenses.

This is surprising for the Danbury mall, which is fairly upscale and tame. It sounds like the teenage girl who was shot had no involvement whatsoever and was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

The bottom of the job market is struggling, which are the jobs young people typically get. That means more unemployed young people, which can lead to more crime. CT needs to turn these job numbers around for young people entering the work force as teens:

Good article about the difference between the Republicans and Democrats views on juvenile crime. The Democrats point to the fact that the number of car thefts in our state is no where near the 1991 peak. They seem to think that means we don’t have a problem that needs addressing. Of course they neglect the fact that back then we didn’t have cars blatantly taken right out of our garages and driveways and didn’t get shot at in our homes or run over and killed on the streets. Kind of different, don’t you think? Jay

Democrats simply want violent juveniles coddled. The concept of punishment eludes them. The concept that some juveniles are simply evil eludes them. Their beliefs are delusional at best, dangerous to law-abiding people at worst.

Notice we have posters who never empathize with victims EVER, but instantly empathize with long-term, violent criminals. That is sickening.

The reality though is people are waking up to dangerous juveniles. The NYC mayor's race is a leading indicator. 46% chose crime as issue #1, and Adams is the least "woke" Democrat, the closest to law and order and Sliwa will outperform 75% of NYC GOP candidates. That trend will hit Ct, also, towards a law and order vote. It takes time.

I hope you're right about that. The problem is that so far nobody is challenging Lamont and now is the time to get out there and for any candidate to get their name out there. This needs to happen now and can't wait. I want someone who has the onions to put their foot down on this issue, and bluntly tell CT residents this: "I'm not your best friend -- I'm your ONLY friend. This is a serious problem that requires taking decisive action, and the adults need to be in charge here."

That's because the rat pack of current Democrats in this state are weak. Look at what's happened to the cities over which they preside. Christ, look at Hartford : the city is a carcass, and anyone can kick it. And now the disorder is spilling over into the neighboring suburbs and they, too, are now becoming undesirable.
