Wont be that bad for CT especially western half of state. Eastern half will see more outages but my guess this storm wont make the Top 10 list for outages.

Steve (NYNJPAWeather) is another good one to follow. He does forecasts and talks science.

Basically saying the trough / Upper low has caught Henri now and the structure will be changed but will begin to expand. Also supports heavy rainfall.

One of the main reasons for the shift east is that weaker storms (like this one probably will have a lifetime max of 75 mph as compared to, at one point, the NHC thinking 90) tend to follow the "right" (relative to foward motion) side of the cone... so as it's weaker they have to reflect the difference in track that creates
I woke up and noticed they had a special 7am update and it had not strengthened nor had any westerly component in it's movement and they even seemed to suggest a landfall as far east as the RI/MA border.

but normal 8am update has it going NNW and now its back to showing landfall on the CT/RI border

As I said, I'm away so I'm not seeing the "facts on the ground". Sunny where I am.....I come back tomorrow though. Ironically I was originally going to rent a minivan or large SUV, return it up here at the airport tonight and fly back to avoid taking off from work tomorrow.....flight probably would've been cancelled. A different plan (which her school rejected) would've have me take Friday off, I move in my daughter yesterday and drive back home today which would've been right into it......karma I guess.

A quick look at the pattern setup this morning.

I'll make it simple. The reason this one never went Out to sea and missed land is because of that High Pressure. It blocked Henri from doing it. Pretty good models were able to see that 6 days ago but what they didn't see 2 days ago was the exact position of it.

That high shifted East a bit, and so did Henri's track.

Also, the timing of the trough coming into the region (because of that Vortex over Hudson Bay) and the Upper Low catching Henri happened a bit faster IMO and it nudged Henri east more last minute.

So while the overall pattern can be seen a week away, the exacts are always tough until day of. Same with winter coastal snowstorms

So far just on and off downpours in Glastonbury. Not looking forward to the predicted 4-6” of rain but I’ll take that over the heavier winds that will now be east of here with this latest track taking it into RI.

Down here on the western Sound its just rain. No wind and the waters are calm as can be. Not even a ripple.
High tide is at noon with a 3-5 ft surge so that should be interesting.
