Yeah, it looks like it’s having a difficult time strengthening. Not even a hurricane at this point, and there is plenty of cooler water on the way to NE. I see that they already down graded to a TS for land fall on LI. Seems like the rain and storm surge is going to be a bigger deal than the wind.

Also, anyone noticed that Eversource is already managing expectations? Be prepared to be up to 10 days without power.

If you are coming to CT, come tonight or wait until later in the week. The highways will be closed and back roads will be blocked by fallen trees.

Likely. If I recall, they closed all highways for Hurricane Sandy except to emergency personnel. My stupid employer at the time made me stay in the office until the last possible moment.

Governor: Connecticut residents should prepare to shelter in place Sunday due to storm

HARTFORD, Conn. — Gov. Ned Lamont warned Connecticut residents Friday they should prepare to “shelter in place" from Sunday afternoon through at least Monday morning, as the state braces for the first possible direct hit from a hurricane in decades.

The Democrat announced he is requesting a pre-landfall emergency declaration from President Joe Biden to provide the state with federal assistance in advance of Tropical Storm Henri's arrival. He also plans to issue a declaration of civil preparedness emergency, enabling state officials to take various actions to protect the health of residents.

Lamont had originally planned to spend the weekend with family at his home in Maine, but his office said he was returning early to Connecticut on Saturday. The State Emergency Operations Center was scheduled to become partially activated on Saturday and fully activated by Sunday morning.

Yea, I know... that's the one thing giving me hope. It's underperforming intensity wise

77 is the bare minimum for a subtropical cyclone and 82 is for a fully tropical cyclone so IDK how much it'll help. I agree though it won't really weaken the storm either - it's not coming up in 50 degree water like Sandy did

Henri is now become a category 1 hurricane the storm is in located about 180 ESE of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina heading toward Long Island and CT.

Maximum winds currently 75MPH with gusts up to 90.

We going see a lot of power outrage maybe 55-70% of state, blocked roads, coastal areas going to flood, a lot of rain 4.99 up to possible 7.
