Wind gusts based on GFS model midday Sunday

Some of us might get 60mph+. That would take down some trees.

Ironically tomorrow I am going out of town to move my daughter into her dorm at SUNY-Buffalo and will be there until Monday. So I'm actually going to miss the storm......but on Wednesday I move my son to Western Connecticut State Univ and they already have sent out warnings to him that if there are extensive power outages in CT that date may be moved. The freshmen at WCSU were supposed to move in on Sunday and the college cancelled that and moved their move in date (idealisitically?) to Tuesday and cancelled all of their welcome activities.

Top 6 power outages

It was over 1.5 million when you included United Electric with that October snowstorm

I had a temp. job one time in which I interviewed several survivors. But I also heard about it from anyone who was old enough to remember it. They had no warning, it was just kind of rainy that night. My dad said it took two men to hold the front door closed and then they had to shove a heavy bureau in front of it to keep it closed.

An uncle took pictures of it in Northampton, MA. Pictures of houses floating down the CT River and pictures of the RR bridge with water up to the top.

A farmer told me how he couldn't get out to his cattle but he could see them in the watery distance, perched upon haystacks trying to stay out of the water.

I'm clearing my freezer out tonight, cooking some of the frozen foods in the hope that they can be put into a cooler and be eaten when/if the power goes off. A major drawback of being stuck in an apartment is that we cannot have a grill and there is no backup generator for when the power goes off. I hate to throw good food away!

Channel 3 tonight had Henri hitting Long Island with 75 mph winds at 2:00 PM on Sunday. It hits Connecticut a few hours later with 50 mph wind and exits our state about 2:00 AM. That could change but is what they were forecasting. Jay

"According to the @EversourceCT outage prediction model, if Henri makes landfall in E. CT, 300,000-600,000 outages are forecast. If it makes landfall in western CT as a category 1 Hurricane… (are you sitting down?) 1,000,000 outages are forecast. "
