Southern Fairfield-Southern New Haven-Southern Westchester-Bronx-
Northwest Suffolk-Northern Queens-Northern Nassau-
323 PM EDT Tue Apr 2 2024

...COASTAL FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM WEDNESDAY TO 10 AM
EDT THURSDAY...

* WHAT...1 1/2 to 2 1/2 ft of inundation above ground level
expected in vulnerable areas near the waterfront and shoreline
with the Wednesday evening and early Thursday morning high
tides.

* WHERE...In Connecticut, Southern Fairfield and Southern New
Haven Counties. In New York, Southern Westchester, Bronx,
Northwest Suffolk, Northern Queens and Northern Nassau
Counties.

* WHEN...From 4 PM Wednesday to 10 AM EDT Thursday.

* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...Widespread flooding of vulnerable areas
near the waterfront and shoreline, including roads, parking
lots, parks, lawns, and homes and businesses with basements near
the waterfront. Numerous road closures are likely, and vehicles
parked in vulnerable areas near the waterfront will likely
become flooded. Flooding will also extend inland from the
waterfront along tidal rivers and bays.

* SHORELINE IMPACTS...Breaking waves of 3 to 7 ft Wednesday
evening, along with elevated water levels, will result in beach
erosion with damage to shoreline structures possible. Wave
splashover over bulkheads and seawalls will likely exacerbate
flooding of shoreline roadways and properties.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The combination of heavy rain, runoff and
elevated water levels Wednesday evening and early Thursday
morning may cause localized flash flooding along some shoreline
roads and properties. The coverage and magnitude of flooding
early Thursday morning will be dependent on track of low
pressure, and timing of windshift from easterly gales to
northwest gales. This will be refined over the next 24 hours.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If
travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through
water of unknown depth.

The difference between totality and not?

Day and night.

Good example from http://eclipse2024.org of how Hartford (93%) and Burlington (100%) will appear.
