Recent radar shows a bit of lull coming for Connecticut/Long Island/NYC in the next hour as there is a break in the precip in southeast PA and southern NJ moving northeast. Once that moves through rain will pick up again it looks like.

April Skiing. What a storm.

Any of you Skiing again? Litchfield County should see some snow and Hartford County and another 12-18" up north.

Was curious how coastal CT has compared to Seattle past few years...

While Bridgeport has gotten more rain annually the amount of precip days has not been met. Sure feels like it has

Short term weather patterns often hide long term climatology.

One of the biggest (maybe the biggest) difference between a city up in the PNW and a city in the Tri-State area is number of overcast days. From November through March Seattle gets less than 1/3 the sun hrs than a city like New Haven or Bridgeport. In starts in Oct when Seattle already is socked in clouds, and by December (the worst month on average) New Haven, Bridgeport, NYC, Trenton...ect get 3 times the sun hours that Seattle gets.

So (if you like sunshine at least) we on the East Coast (at least below Boston) have it good:

I don't think anyone who's lived in New England for any length of time, would call our region "sunny" in winter. PNW is a more relevant comparison in the summer months, perhaps.

The heavy rain is now in central New Jersey heading toward Connecticut/NYC area soon. However, no stations in the area reporting heavy rain as of 10 am obs. :

When you say "New England" (meaning VT, ME, NH, much of MA) then maybe that is true (meaning not sunny in the cold season).

However, one look at the maps above (esp Dec) from Rhode Island south to Maryland averages more sunshine hrs than several areas of the USA (for example places like northern AL, MS, TN, etc). I don't consider Connecticut that cloudy in winter. No it does not get as much sun hrs as location further south down the East Coast (South Carolina to Florida) or the southwest of course, but the area from CT to eastern VA within 100 miles of the Atlantic.. is sunnier than places like the parts of the interior south, Great Lakes, New England, the PNW, the TN Valley, the northern Plains...etc in December - Feb. CT gets more sun hrs than northern CA in December - lol.

You can't use one of the wettest winters on record as a bench mark?

11:30 radar...looks like a little dry slot moving across southern CT. Should fill in as rain from NJ moves northeast:
