I agree with this. Although the OP’s budget is generous so he should be able to afford something in Ridgefield. And it definitely has a quintessential New England town center. Plus you can get a house in the woods.

I guess I don’t understand with a decent budget why not just get a crash pad in LI.

Right, the North Shore has many beautiful thickly forested and quiet areas. It's a wonderful island with tons to offer.

Agree that OP’s budget is high enough that they can afford to live further southwest.

As someone who is really familiar with Southbury and also with traveling throughout that area into NY, I would focus on Ridgefield, Sherman, or New Fairfield.

Yep. As long as you travel between 10pm and 3am you can do that.

He is a teacher, so he works 5 days per week.
