Im thinking of relocating to Rockport to enjoy the sunshine and want to know how much property taxes and Independent School District Tax rates are for that area. The property tax where we live isn't too bad but the ISD tax rate is very high, and if you aren't aware of the difference, the ISD taxes are quite a surprise.

WWW. AransasCAD.org allows you to search on properties, etc. A quick look shows that a residential property in Rockport (Aransas county) paid taxes at the following 2006rates (2005):
ACISD - 1.3963 (1.5184)
County - 0.2348 (0.2793)
City - 0.2443 (0.2549)
Special - 0.0436 (0.0449)
NavDist.- 0.0398 (0.0462)
TOTAL 1.9588 (2.1437)
These taxes look pretty good for Texas
. There was also about a 9% reduction from 2005...I suspect that was a greater than 9% increase in property values.
Note that there will be some high insurance rates for this area......

I would not waste my time moving to Rockport. Corruption abounds and the drugs are way out of hand.

Rockport is a very nice small city, however home prices are 20% higher in general than 35 miles away in Coprus.

Have you ever been to Rockport? It's beautiful, clean and virtually crime free. Not sure where you're getting you information from, but it's false. Not sure what kind of kicks you get out of lying about a city. It makes no sense to me.
Great choice on moving to Rockport. You're going to love it.

I second that, we considered moving to Rockport but a bit far for commuting to Corpus for work. We loved Rockport.

Uh. Yes. I lived in Rockport for 20 years and recently moved away. Lying about the city. Uh, no. It is NO WHERE near crime free. Rape rate is 7 times higher then the national average. Drugs are out of hand. Law enforcement is openly corrupt. If you donate to law enforcement you can do pretty much whatever you want. Drive drunk and get caught with drugs in your car. No problem. They escort you home instead of arresting you. Biggest users of drugs are actually key allegro of all places. They love their coke. Parents openly allowing other parents children to come over to their house and get drunk and use drugs. That is a BIG problem in the town. Police doing nothing about it. Not my fault you don't know what goes on because you don't want to. Before you say none of this happens. I know for a FACT it does. Guess what I do for a living?
If you think Rockport is beautiful I have no clue where you have lived. The beach is one of the worst I have seen. The town itself is average at best.

you know, my mom lived there part time for over 10 years and full time for nearly the next 7 years..... and NEVER ONCE had an issue with crime (unless you count the raccoons breaking into her trash cans) ... and one would think that she and her friends (elderly folks, all and my mom disabled) would have been easy targets if the criminal element was so rampant and out of control...... granted, she has been gone for a few years now, but i just cannot believe that rockport would have deteriorated to the point described by lutarian and others in that amount of time......
