Old Story from May.

But "NO" cop's available or near by is common in rural parts of the US (and rest of the world also).

The Mail seems to be a never-ending source of stories like this one about the U.S.

the ""no police available" i understand. what i do not understand is a multa billion dollar justice system devoted to stripping me of my home job and incarcerating me- if i defend myself when "no police are available".

I am in southern Delaware. Outside of the incorporated towns it is possible to be told a State Trooper is 1/2 hour away.

I guess people have to live where ever -but women alone in rural areas need to have a large kit knife in apron... I am sorry for this poor lady- but even in the city, cops cant always get there on time.. Women learn to protect yourself the best way possible- and if she knew her attacker just a matter of time he will be singing weeee from the jail

What is a ''large kit knife in apron'' and what will that accomplish? A compact .45 is a much better choice and I would empty the mag. Who wants the perp in jail?

If our deputy/sheriff is in the southern part of our county, you're looking at 45 minutes MINIMUM with sirens and lights.

Everybody has guns around here for a good reason.

I don't get it, you have a psycho BF? So, put out a restraining order, get a gun...the man steps on your property, shoot him!

Hate women who portray themselves as victims...

Josephine County has zero sales tax, and according to news reports the lowest property taxes in Oregon. The sheriff keeps whining for more money, and the voters keep turning him down. It sounds like the voters have spoken, and most of them are satisfied with the level of government services that they are receiving. It seems most of the people are happy.

If I lived there I probably would be too. In my life I have never received any service from a LEO that I couldn't have done with out. So as long as there is a jail, a court house, and enough deputies to provide a basic patrol for the county, every thing should be fine. And they seem to have that.
