Trish, anyone would be lucky to have either of my sons watch their kids. And 32 months is an insane "punishment" for this man.
Maybe I'm overreacting. But it seems I'm always hearing news stories about some male babysitter doing some harm to a child either by intention or negligence.

No it's not, he killed a girl though neglect. what are you saying, he should not go to prison because he is gay ?

Russia, China, and other countries have the right idea in banning gays from adopting children.

Yes it's always a male babysitter.

Gay or straight, this is a crime punishable in the most severe of ways.

We all have our political views about some topics, but on the subject of toddler MURDER, there is no dividing line or gray area.

I didn't say male babysitters always victimized the children they watched. I said I'm always hearing news stories about male sitters.

Anyway.

http://www.unh.edu/ccrc/pdf/babysittercrime.pdf

Quote:
Overall, among babysitters, male offenders
outnumbered female offenders (63 to
37 percent) in police reports.2 However,
this percentage masks the true disproportion
in the risk of male offending, in that
most children are exposed to more female
than male babysitters, both in terms of
numbers and the amount of time spent
in their care. No reliable information is
available about the overall gender ratio
of babysitters, but one teen survey found
that females were twice as likely as males
to have had babysitting experience (Kourany,
Martin, and LaBarbera, 1980).
Among adult babysitters, the ratio is considerably
higher (U.S. Bureau of the Census,
2001). Therefore, the true risk of a
male babysitter offending is likely much
greater than the two-to-one ratio of male
to female offenders found in the data.
I guess it wasn't just my perception.

So, you want to emulate Russia and China and "other countries"? Interesting. I thought only those who were so liberal as to be communist would ever ponder such a thing.

Unless you can prove malice of forethought, it was not murder, it was either negligient homicide or involuntary manslaughter, the same that people who kill others while DWI or driving while texting are charged with. And while I agree that there should be accountability, and punishment, I would bet that the vast majority of people who are responsible for causing the death of a child in their custody in this manner never stop punishing themselves.

Ok, So we have determined that he was clearly guilty of a criminal offense that resulted in the death of a child, and that criminal offense is a felony. If I drive drunk and kill a child I would not get less then 7 years of prison. he only got 32 month of which he will do 80%.

now can we go back to making fun of gays ?
